Good value, reasonably good quality for amateur, enthusiast and occasional pro use.
If you've ever worked with a regular softbox you know it takes some fiddling and effort to put it together. Getting the metal stays to fit in the mount and corners of the box without kinking the stays or tearing the softbox material is a challenge. This soft box unfolds and folds like an umbrella, so the major setup is much quicker and easier, with no loose stays to get lost. You still have to attach the baffle, diffuser and/or grid (if needed), but that's just as true with a regular softbox. The material a bit on the thin side. No light bleeds through, but it is thin enough to give me some concern about longevity. The metal parts are all die-cast and roughly finished, except for the ribs which are metal poles. The metal isn't very high quality but it all works as expected for the price and is reasonably sturdy. The baffles, diffuser and grid are nylon. There are two flaps that can be opened to vent heat from modeling lights, with velcro to keep them closed or open But they are only present on the long sides so they are less effective when the box is oriented vertically. The back of the soft box also opens/closes with velcro for adjustment and extra ventilation options. The speedring is Bowens mount and is secured to the softbox ring with eight phillips-head screws. You can replace the speedring with one for AlienBees or Einsteins, (purchased separately from another vendor), but that's not something I'd plan on doing quickly or frequently.I've used it twice now and it produces the expected even and soft light. Setup and breakdown was easier than a traditional softbox. While this isn't as nice as my $120+ Paul C Buff softbox, I think it is acceptable for amateur, enthusiast and occasional professional use and a good value at just under $70 with shipping
