WORKS BETTER FOR ME THAN SHIMANO QUICK-LINKS
Of course these pins are "old-fashioned" and so we are told to use Shimano quick links now, but for me these pins work better. I have used the quick links in my last 3 MTB 8 speed HG71 chains because they come with the chain, but EACH TIME THE SPAN OF THE CHAIN WITH THE QUICK SHOWS MORE THAN .5% WEAR WELL BEFORE THE REST OF THE CHAIN. I specifically checked every link on each chain when new with the quick link installed and no area of the chain was close to .5 so I have to assume either the quick links are just slightly longer than the standard HG71 links but not long enough to increase chain length enough to hit 5% when new and/or the quick links are wearing slightly faster than all the other links in the chains. I only have 980 miles on my current HG71 chain and (AS WITH MY LAST 2 CHAINS) the span with the quick link is now showing over .5% wear ("replace chain") while the rest of the chain is not even close to hitting .5%. So I am going back to the pins with which I have never had a similar problem or wear issue ever, on any MTB or road bike. Other than that, is it a bit outrageous to charge $15 for three tiny pins? Yes. That's MORE THAN HALF THE COST OF A NEW CHAIN!

The pins worked just fine but are, i think by nature, tricky to install. be sure to have a quality tool for that.
