CD Hard Hands, HANDCD2, 1995 11 Track Review: 90's electronic classic - One of the best albums of electronic dance music to have been made in the 90's (or any time for that matter). The vinyl pressing sounds absolutely perfect and you get a download of the new remixes. This is a very eclectic and dynamically creative album that crosses boundaries in a way that few were doing when it was recorded, at least as well as Leftfield accomplished doing so. In short, this album is captivating and a must have for any avid electronic music fan. Buy it while you can. Review: A 90s classic. - A mid-90s classic. This has now been remastered. The sound on the original 95 release is more dynamic still and was mastered before club style music started getting super loud. There are a few classics on here like Original, Afro-Left, and Song of Life, and in general the whole album is consistent and solid work. It's too bad the Leftfield duo didn't do anything else, but this and their second album still stand out as a really skilled and authentic takes in the genre. Both are as good as anything out there IMO. Highly recommended.

So happy I finally discovered this unique bit of audio art!
I can't believe that I just now discovered this album! It is "old"! But so modern. The song I heard from it that made me fall in love is "Open Up". Find that song, listen to it, then look up who the guest singer is, then buy the whole album. It is creative and inspiring. All of the songs are different but the album takes you on a journey and as a whole it makes so much sense. Brilliant! (I looked up their other albums and I wish I liked them near as much as this one.)

Great album
Leftfield came up in a Pandora stream and I instantly loved the sound. It's an interesting album that sort-of defies a category of music. I would say it is electronic, but that is selling it short. You really need to listen to it for yourself. Inspection Check One is one of my favorite songs.

This repress is amazing. Having only seen the front cover on my MP3 files, I was in awe of the massive gatefold album that I received. The art is phenomenal, both inside and out. This album comes with 3 LPs, so the cover folds out into 3 equally sized sections. The records themselves are thick and rigid, which I absolutely adore. They have a nice heft to them. Of course, they sound fantastic.

Awesome Album
One of the finest electronica albums of the '90's, Leftfield's Leftism combines techno, big beat, and ambience along with several guest vocalists including of all people, the Sex Pistols' John "Rotten" Lydon. All of the tracks are good but the standouts are Melt which has been used in commercials, Inspection (Check One) which has major bass to it, and the Lydon song, Open Up, which is the most aggressive track and my personal favorite. This album is very diverse for a techno/electronica album. Their follow-up, Rhythm and Stealth, was not nearly as good, but then again, it was hard to follow-up a near perfect album. One of the top dance albums of all-time and a masterpiece.

Quite possibly something so good, u will never hear anything better by one artist. The first time i heard it, I had to have it. Hard to describe the vibe, but awesome to work out to! Test it out and be amazed!

great music
UNLESS YOU HAVE HEARD THIS YOU WILL NOT KNOW WHAT AN INCREDIBLE ALBUM THIS IS. I was in the business and can tell you, if you appreciate beat and appreciate lyrics, some electronic sound and a unique mix- this is your choice.

Personnel: - Paul Daley, Neil Barnes: samples, programmations - Earl Sixteen, Cheschire Cat, Papa Dee, Djum Djum, Toni Halliday, Danny Red, John Lydon, Lemn Sissay: voix invitées

Fantastic package of a classic techno album. You get 3 LPs on 180 gram vinyl which includes the vinyl-only tracks Cut For Life and Half Past Dub. Leftism Remastered's tracklist: A1 Release The Pressure 7:39 A2 Afro-Left 7:32 B1 Cut For Life 7:09 B2 Melt 5:15 C1 Black Flute 3:56 C2 Original 6:22 D1 Inspection (Check One) 6:29 D2 Space Shanty 7:14 E1 Storm 3000 5:45 E2 Half Past Dub 3:38 F1 Open Up 8:44 F2 21st Century Poem 4:39 You should note that Cut For Life replaces the original version of Song of Life which is on the original CD & 2LP release and included with the digital download. The best thing about this package is that the download slip claims that it includes an MP3 download of the album but it's actually uncompressed 24-Bit WAV files for both discs from the newly remastered Leftism 22 CD release. The files from the second disc download are as follows: Leftism Remixed 12 Release The Pressure (Adrian Sherwood) 13 Afro-Left (Hodge & Peverelist) 14 Melt (Quiet Village) 15 Song Of Life (Bodyjack) 16 Original (Adesse Versions) 17 Black Flute (Ben Sims) 18 Space Shanty (Voiski) 19 Inspection (Check One) (Maafi) 20 Storm 3000 (Dungeon Meat) 21 Open Up (Skream) 22 21st Century Poem (Zomby) All in all, well worth what I paid for this classic 90's techno album! I have heard of some people's copies containing a skip during Inspection (Check One) which is one of my favourite songs on this album but I have no way of checking it right now so best to check your copies just in case. There have also been some people saying that the album has been mastered too loud and it clips so keep that in mind.
