Just what I needed
This cost effective device helped revive many memories that I thought had been lost forever. It was simple to transfer from a MiniHD camera to a Windows PC to digitize content. Used Microsoft Clipchamp as it was free and easy to use.Taken 1 star off as I had to go and hunt for a driver. The included driver disk is useless as I no longer have an optical drive.

Doesn't work
I tried transferring from my VHS to a computer but it didn't work. Waste of money. I should have asked for a refund.

Miraculously it works!
Wanted to save my old Sony TRV 22E Handycam mini DV tapes onto my pc before they get too old to work. Used this and it worked perfectly. The quality is slightly reduced from analogue to digital but very little. Overall very pleased indeed….I can now save the videos of the kids growing up, which is priceless. Will back up onto USB stick too.

This will not work with Hi8 Camcorders.
This will not work with Hi8 camcorders due to piracy protection. (what I've understood from Internet forums)I'm not sure what other camcorders maybe effected, but you will not get a stable image with Hi8 camcorders.(I have some experience with encoding video files so I know what I am talking about to an extent)With my Hi8 camcorder the image would wobble consistently, I thought it might be an issue with the frame rate, as nowadays the frame rate is the NTSC standard at 59.94 however back in the 80s/90s UK the standard was PAL at 50 Frames per second, so I thought this might have been an issue, which doesn't quite make sense but I also speculated it could be an issue with interlaced and progressive, but it wasn't as I went in to OBS and configured the input reference to interlaced at 50 frames per second, but the issue still occurred, it could be a hardware related to the device but it was futile. as I did more research people have said it's copy protection and it's something to do with the rotary magnets, I'm not sure, I'm not an engineer. At the end of the day and I went to purchase a proper CapCard and it worked flawlessly, I didn't care to find out what the problem was or is.

Brilliant
So pleased I purchased this. I have managed to pull the old video I wanted onto my computer. I am not good with computers but managed with no problem to use. Instruction were easy to follow. Also decided to now pull all old video I found in the loft onto my PC. Very pleased with results and would recommend this product

Image is reasonable
Ok image and driver support means it works with the usual mainstream capture software.
