Great quality ear pads
These earpads are great, very comfortable and thickly padded. I've used the stock pads on my HD800s for a couple years and they started to get worn down so I picked these up. There isn't much of a difference sound-wise with these, maybe the soundstage is a tiny bit smaller and the bass is slightly more boomy, it's not a very significant sound change though which is awesome since the original ear pads have excellent sound. Overall I give these 5 stars! The instructions provided with the pads made these very easy to install too!

Subtle Sonic Differences, More Comfortable Fit - I’ll Explain
I bough these with a bit of trepidation, I love my HD800’s, their detail, expansive sound stage, with just the right blend of clarity without being too bright or sibilant, hits the sweet spot for me. I enjoy the sonic sense of “being there” that the HD800’s are capable of delivering when properly driven, using good lossless, Hi-Res source material played through a good DMP. I have twice replaced my ear pads with OEM Sennheiser pads and they just don’t last and compared to these, aren’t particularly more comfortable or secure. In case you’re wondering how serious I am about enjoying music, I am using a HiBy R6 Digital Music Player connected via digital coax to an ifi micro ISD Black Label portable DAC/headphone amp with moon audio - Silver Dragon custom cables for HD800. I knew that replacing the stock Sennheiser ear pads could alter the sonic signature of the headphones and was afraid that it might adversely impact my listening experience, so I waited about six weeks, listening daily, before submitting my review. It took a few weeks to adjust to the minor sonic differences that I noticed and to me, the differences were subtle. You are probably wondering what specifically did I notice and in truth it is difficult to quantify. There is a subtle increase in the deep bass response, something the HD800’s could benefit from. I think this may be due to the slightly tighter fit around the ears, though they are in no way too tight or closer to my ears as one reviewer noted. They just don’t move as easily when I shift position which I actually like. I was afraid that the high end might be too strident but it isn’t and the sound stage is just as large (when appropriate) as it was with the OEM pads. After many hours auditioning the headphones with these leather pads I can say that I like them and actually prefer them to the OEM pads. If they did not please me both sonically and comfort-wise, I would have returned them and spent the extra money for another set of OEM pads after all, having spent so much to enjoy my music, a few extra dollars would not be an issue. So to sum it up, there are subtle sonic differences which I have decided that I like – your personal experience may differ from mine. Comfort with the new buttery soft sheepskin leather is an improvement and no more black marks across your face due to crumbling OEM ear pads is a blessing. If you have any questions, ask them and I’ll endeavor to answer them to the best of my ability.Art

Easy to install, very difficult to take off, and destroys frequency response... but comfortable.
So difficult to remove that I needed a screw driver to carefully pry them off the headphone. The pad clips are just on too tight. I would give these pads 0 stars if I could. Not worth destroying HD800s over something that just ruins the sound signature.

Excellent leather-like alternative
Tl;dr: Retains about 95% of the original sound of my HD800. Fit and comfort are excellent.I tested these on my HD800, though I ended up keeping them on my HD800S 'daily driver'. On both cans the difference in sound compared to the OEM pads (very slightly warmer top end) was so minimal that it was hard to tell if it was placebo because of the time it took to swap out pads + auditory memory. Headstage differences were also minimal- if they were there at all.Installation was actually easier than removal. These have more rigid tabs than the OEM pads. So when you put them on they give you a more definitive "click" sound and feel when they snap into place. However this makes them much harder to remove than the OEMs. I found that it helps if you put your hand or fingers around the whole pad perimeter and push it in the direction of the edge that you are trying to lift up from. (It's a similar concept to unmounting a bike tire.) I find the side with the L/R markings are the easiest to first pry off. I also find that side the easiest to start from when installing the pads. The fit is very good- they snap right into place. They fit perfectly flush along the curved or front side of the cups. There is a very small gap on the backside though. I'm positive that they are clipped in; so I guess that's just how it is. It's a minor issue, only noticeable because they fit so flush along the rest of the cans. The protein leather is very nice. It feels very similar to the stuff you find on the Sony MDR-Z7 or Denon/Fostex stuff.

Will change the character of your HD800s, for better or worse
I bought these after my 5-year-old pads were literally falling apart and needed replacing. Comfort-wise, I definitely prefer these to the OEM pads. They're chunky and feel way more durable, and surprisingly I sweat less with these pads.Sound-wise, it's a mixed bag. There's a VERY noticeable increase in the deep lows, which is definitely a welcome change. However, this comes with a slight loss in detail across the entire spectrum. Bass feels more "boomy" and highs lose a bit of precision. This was especially apparent when listening to string instruments. Even after EQing, it felt like my HD800s had lost a bit of their magic. On the bright side (or rather not, ha!), it will make them more tolerable.Overall, these pads will change the character of your HD800s. Whether that's a good thing or not, that's for you to decide. I won't ding the seller too much since you should know this going in, and the product is really well-made. I also appreciate his Youtube videos explaining how to install the pads, though he should really think twice about putting ads on those videos LOL.

Comfortable but kills the original sound magic
Really comfortable but changes the sound in a way that robs the phones of their magic. All of a sudden the music sounds obtrusive in a way that it doesnt with the original pads.

Revived old HD 800 headphones without costing the earth
The original earpads on my old HD 800 headphones having worn out, I'd previously tried cheaper velour 'compatible' pads, but found them impossible to fit reliably. So was just about to splash out on the genuine Sennheiser spares, when I came across these lambskin alternatives at about half the price. They arrived promptly, complete with a handy little tool and a link to a video on how to fit them, which proved very easy. They fit perfectly, feel comfortable, and sound good to me. Possibly the sound is a fraction less open than before, but the HD 800 phones always sounded bright and spacious - possibly more so than necessary - and I now find them almost as comfortable in sound and feel as the 800S, for use in my classical music recording and editing work. If the sheepskin also proves more durable, this will have been a cost-effective way of reviving my old favourite headphones.

Comfortable, easy to install, little sonic differences
I have a love/hate relationship with earpad replacements. Some, like the ones for the ATH-M50s and the ZMF Vibros, are incredibly difficult or impossible for me because of the leather flap that they use. Others, like the AKG K7- series, are incredibly easy with the twist-lock mechanism. And I’ve only heard tales about the mystical magnetic earpads that some headphones use. These earpads are only slightly more difficult to replace than the AKG K7- earpads, partially due to the tool needed to remove the earpads, and partially due to the moderate amount of force needed to attach the new earpads. WATCH THE VIDEO!! And yes, start from the corners! Some finesse may be required to fully attach the earpads.Comfort-wise, these earpads are much more comfortable than the stock pads (which have minimal padding). They do get warmer than the stock pads though, so perhaps a future design that incorporates velour or perforated leather might work. Isolation isn’t really affected, and the seal is marginally better, since the leather covers more area of your skull than the stock pads. Side note: I like what AKG did with the flap of leather near the jaw bone on their K812 headphones. More companies ought to do that.Sound=wise, only a few differences exist. Perhaps there’s some additional bass, but that could be a placebo thing. No measurements exist, so I certainly can’t say with any certainty. No differences in the mids or treble. Soundstage seems to be a bit more centered and focused, so it’s easier to detect where instruments are coming from.Overall, an excellent product. We’ll see how these pads hold up in the future, though.

Acabado flojo.
