Amazon Basics Polycarbonate Office Chair ‎Rectangular Mat for Low to Medium Pile Carpet, 47 x 59-Inch, Clear

I'm very impressed with this chair mat. My new office has medium-low pile carpets, and this new mat is PERFECT! It's made of polycarbonate plastic, so it's stiffer and resistant to stretching like many floor mats. My office chair doesn't sink in and form valleys from the casters, and it slides easily and smoothy, like it was sliding on a tiled or hardwood floor. I love it! This is an excellent choice if you work a lot at your desk on a carpet surface.One thing to note: Be very careful when unwrapping the chair mat, as when the binding plastic is cut, the mat will explosively unroll with some violence. If you don't stand clear you could be cut or banged about by the stored up energy in the rolled mat. I'm not kidding on this, so pay attention and stand well clear of where the mat will unroll to prevent injury. Once it's unrolled, it's easy to put in place, and it works like a charm. Highly recommended.UPDATE, Jun11, 2023: The mat lasted just over 2 years with daily use in my office on medium pile rug. It recently cracked on one corner, so I'm buying a new one. I actually expected a couple more years out of it, but until the crack it's worked flawlessly. Even cracked, the mat still does its job well.

This has worked out great. We've used it extensively on a low carpet with a roller office chair at our computers for over a year now with literally no sign of wear, no cracks, and no indentions. I highly recommend.

I’ve had the mat for two months now. So far, it lives up to other reviews in terms of durability. My chair glides easily and it is sturdy. However, many reviews pointed out some flaws that I too am experiencing:1.) pay attention to the warning about opening the mat. It really does POP when you cut the plastic binding so be careful and do it in an open space or outside 2.) beware the edges! I’ve cut my ankle twice. They really are sharp. 3.) It creeps on my carpet. I have a high end textured Berber that isn’t high pile but it still creeps. I have to reposition it every 2-3 days even though one of the legs that support my work surface are sitting on it. That’s probably my biggest frustration.We shall see if, in time, it really does hold up to daily wear and tear without cracking, but so far, I see no signs of that whatsoever.Overall, I’m content with my purchase but it doesn’t garner a 5 star review for the points mentioned above.

I like the size, I had been using 2 smaller mats before. Rolling over the crack where the 2 mats met was annoying. The one piece is perfect. I've only had the mats for a couple of weeks, so can't really rate the durability. It is sturdy in that the chair doesn't sink into the mat, no indentation marks. It's easy to move around, but I have noticed that it does "drift" a little. I have to pull it back into place from time to time. Overall though, it serves it's purpose well and I would buy it again or another if I need it for another room.

I've purchased several mats like this. None last more than 2 years. I have no idea how long this will last, I've only had it a couple of weeks. But, it lays flat. When the chair rolls over the edge, it will roll back on. Wheels don't get stuck. Mat seems to grip my medium carpet well. It looks fine. (Who buys these for how they look?) Prior mats were awful when the chair went over the edge. This gets the 5 stars simply because I don't fight the mat every time I roll a little too far back.

Had to return others. Too soft. Too cheap. This one holds up great to wheels in my office chair. Slides perfectly. I have medium thickness carpet and 0 issues. Doesn’t slip on carpet

Love the size and the material is much better than the typical PVC that cracks. UPDATE 08/15/2023: Reduced to 3 stars. Chair matt moves all over the place. The nipples on the bottom either aren't sharp enough or long enough.

I bought 4 other mats to use on my carpet, from Amazon and Staples prior to purchasing this one. All the other mats were made out of soft plastic/vinyl and don't work at all. With the other mats, the chair immediately sinks into the mat and you can't roll around in the chair.This mat stays put on my carpet and my chair doesn't sink into the mat like the other ones being sold on Amazon. Don't waste your time with the cheaper mats. If you want one that works, go ahead and shell out the $90 for this mat.

When you get it, it's rolled up and wrapped with a warning saying it's under pressure - needs two people to open it. Well, it really does explode open in a fraction of a second when you cut the wrapper, but honestly, I don't know why you'd need two people - just increases the odds that one of them will get hit/hurt...Unlike polyvinyl chair mats, this one doesn't deform where the chair wheels touch (well, maybe just a wee bit), but if you set on it a little way from the edge then the edge lifts a bit. But it looks like maybe it'll long outlast a polyvinyl one, and my chair rolls very easily on it.

OK, it is tightly wound. And yes, the brain trust at Amazon wrap the instruction paper on how to unroll (screen shot attached) directly inside the slightly opaque roll -- make it impossible to read how to unroll it!However, it's not going to be crazy hard to restrain it when you open it. I recommend having once person lean on top of it, and the other person cut the sealing tape. **Make sure the most wound part of roll will unroll away from you**So far, it's great. We have thick carpet and it's sturdy enough to roll the chair around with ease and not indent (standard man weight).

The mat arrived rolled in a box. Because of warnings that appeared on reviews and came with the mat we were very careful. However the mat was packed in such a way that it was quite easy to put down. It laid flat immediately and seems quite sturdy. I weigh 240 lbs and my chair rolls easily on my light to medium pile carpet. I have only used this for a month and so far no indentations. The mat is very competitively priced.

this product, while expensive, compared to others should provide good long term service. the proof will be in the long term durability.As it stands the mat has a solid feel on carpet.
