Voyee PS3 Controller
The Voyee 3rd party brand caters to gamers of all different kinds, from the Wii to the xbox one. But this one became a popular brand and cost effective which is super nice. Today we will be looking at the PS3 controller. There are two PS3s in my household. One is for the family and one is my own. When the family PS3 controller started to go wonky I offered my controller for the borked one. For some strange reason the borked controller works just fine on my PC but not on any PS3. So the search was on to find a replacement for my own PS3.When looking for a replacement of the PS3 controller there were several things to consider. The look and feel has to be as similar to the original as much as possible. First and foremost is the "six axis" gyro, this was astounding as a whole. Motion controls without the Wii remote was interesting to say the least. While some games such as Ratchet and Clank and LittleBigPlanet used it for minor stuff such as controlling Sackboy's head or Ratchet as he free falls other gammes used it for bigger portions of the game. Such as Flower which has you steering a lonely flower petal with the six axis movement rather than the analog stick or in Heavy Rain to dodge traffic as you go up a freeway the wrong way. These examples is what made the six axis a necessity in the controller I am looking for.Vibration was another thing to consider. As a kid I hated vibration in controllers because it was always a set vibration and nothing like today's vibrating motors. While not as big of a necessity to have vibration in the handles it was a preferred feature to have. Now there was looks, obviously without the approval of the company (Sony) themselves, you would be infringing the company's copyrights. As a result, you end up with odd patterns painted on the controller, some cool and some are lazily done. However this is just a nitpick and wont be added to my final decision. What really mattered was the overall design of the shell of the controller. Keep in mind that i was looking for the look AND feel of the product and not something like Nitendo 64s three handle design or more awkward than that. For the most part it is like the OG PS3 controller, however there are indents on the back of the handles. My guess is that was suppose to make the controller feel more comfortable, at first i thought it was weird but i have grown used to it so no complaints there. Overall the design is great and even comes with the L2 and R2 buttons being springy which is a nice touch as thats what the original had. Finally we get to the functions, the main part of the controller. Buttons press down nicely, not too stiff and not too mushy just as it should be. The very first game I gave a test run on was Flower. This was to test the six axis that was advertised and to my surprise it actually worked flawlessly so I was happy with that.Next was a PS2 classic: Ape Escape 2. My PS3 is the original 60GB console so not only it is the biggest and the heavist of the Playstation consoles but it also has the PS2s guts in it, making it backwards compatible. However this is where i started to hit a bit of a snare. The controller refused to connect, this is where testing began. As I experimented with it I learned several things. First of all when the PS3 loads up a PS2 disc it disables the controller, this is normal as the PS3 is switching from its initial hardware to the PS2s hardware. From what i tried the controller must NOT be plugged in to charge otherwise it just wont connect no matter what. Next was to find an easier method of connecting the thing without button mashing the home button. I came to the conclusion that after the Playstation 2 logo appears then the message on the top right corner says to connect the controller. This seems to work rather well but the controller must be disconnected at all times. I wanted to use Ape Escape 2 as a way to test the analog sticks and other buttons. Alternatively i also tested this with Sonic Adventure 2 and everything seems to work just fine even when plugged in or out. However when playing a bit of Ratchet Deadlocked on a physical copy, the controller suddenly disconnected during play and made the game think i'm constantly holding up on the left control stick. Finally, for compatibility sakes i tried Rayman 2: The Great Escape on the PS1 and the controller ran fine. This is where i learn that the controller was tested, as it should be, but it was tested on a PS3 slim and not the original 60GB console because thanks to emulation the PS3 can do PS1 and PS3 games but not PS2 games because the components are not there anymore. So a couple of questions remain, is this product exactly what i was looking for? Well, if we are using the word "exactly" then, no, not really. Besides the nitpicks over the design of the controller my only problem would be playing PS2 games with it. As mentioned before it has many issues when it comes to this, from connection issues to even playing a game in general. This thing is just not up to snuff for such a task which is unfortunate. However, can i recommend this? If your aim is to play nothing but PS3 and PS1 games or, better yet, you have a PS3 Slim then this controller is for you. Besides the indents on the back of the handles and the different paint job on the buttons. The controller is an almost exact replica of the original and i would highly recommend it. I give it a nice solid 9/10.

A great replacement for the original controller
Let me add one more positive review in case this is the one that sways you. I know there are always a lot of reviews for everything, good and bad. I did a lot of research and review-reading before deciding on this one. In the end, you have to trust the good reviews and give it a shot. This controller looks and feels like the original. I did notice the finger-grooves in the back, which do not add or detract for me. I have large hands and found it comfortable. I charged it when it arrived, and it took a charge and kept it, so no problems there. All buttons felt good and were responsive in the game. I also put in a game requiring six-axis control, and that functioned fine as well. Customer service reached out upon the arrival of the controller to make sure it worked well. It was a little off-putting, as the email subject was, "Amazon seller VOYEE Direct has encountered an unexpected problem with completing your order" so I first thought it was spam. It was legit and they are just thorough. I would (and do) recommend this controller based on initial quality.

Solid controller for what is available.
TL;DR: This is actually a solid controller for what is available.Presentation:The controller comes in its own company's printed carton. Voyee is clearly aiming to be independent rather than being a fake Sony-branded controller. There are grammatical errors on the box which could have used proof reading from a human translator or native speaker. The controller within the box though is wrapped in the bubble wrap to avoid any sort of scuffs. The bubble wrap seems like a poor choice over using a formed blister pack like Sony's DualShock 3 (DS3). Most 3rd party controllers are shipping with bubble wrap instead of a blister pack. My concerns with that decision is the bubble wrap could actually wear out the stick rather than protecting them if it's wrapped too tight. Luckily the sticks on mine aren't worn upon delivery. The controller's mold is "borrowed" across multiple companies (or are they all the same company just with a different name?). You'll see listings with identical finger cutout from the back and that weird arch shape on top but from different "manufacturers". The feel is near identical to Sony's DualShock 3 in terms of how it'll sit in your hands. I haven't taken full measurements, but they're great. I can feel the cutouts but it doesn't bother me in the slightest. They actually look like the DS3 other than the cut out and top arch. That might have been just a way to circumvent any sort of trademark/patent infringement. The buttons have that classic print redesign for that same lawsuit prevention. The shoulder buttons look identical to the DS3 in everyway. The controller also comes with a charging cable which is actually +1 over Sony who won't include a cable in their controllers (even their current console controllers).Function:This is where things always get screwy in 3rd party controllers. As a test control, I do have a fairly decent used DS3, another 3rd party controller that was GameStop's officially recommended/sold 3rd party controller, and a fake Sony clone controller.Voyee touts their controller's analog stick dead zone which is a true statement. Their dead zone matches Sony's DS3 perfectly. The issue on their sticks and every single other 3rd party controller is more the range of the input. It goes from 0 to 100 faster than a DS3 would. The DS3's range for more gradual movements of the stick is more robust. Turning in a driving game or FPS doesn't really have a medium. It can be a slight turn/move, but a little more than that and it wants to react like a full input. The sticks feel like they want to be a digital input with 2 settings rather than a true analogous input. The face buttons are not analogous. Games with pressure sensitive face buttons will be treated as digital inputs. A great example would be the Metal Gear Solid Collection. You won't be able to draw your weapon and put it away. YOU WILL FIRE. In racing games that use the face button as the gas, the gas is floored. For the shoulder buttons, the R2/L2 will be analogous but just as touchy as the analog sticks. R1/L1 will be digital as is the DS3.The home button will function as a proper home button, unlike the Dualshock 4 or the PS5's Dualsense controller.Sixaxis function in the controller but the neutral position is with the shoulders point up rather than the face buttons like the DS3.The D-pad's left and rights will occasionally trigger the up on the d-pad. I suspect the mold within the unit isn't giving enough space to compensate for people who tap higher on the d-pad. There is also a lot more 8-way movement on the Voyee controller compared to the DS3. I'm not sure if that's intended but there is a definite "click" feel to it.The battery has not given me any sort of issue and charges as intended. I've played to drain, charged, and played some more with the same performance. I have not tested the life of the battery, but it hasn't died in a gaming session on me. After playing an hour on a recharge, the controller still has all three bars.*The controller was tested on Modern Combat: Domination, The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, Socom: Confrontation, Borderlands 2, Wipeout, Battlefield 1943, The Metal Gear Solid Collection, & The Grid.

You get what you pay for
I ordered the yellow one and I was a little disappointed to see that it wasn't yellow like the photo. It was kind of a nasty yellow? More golden but not as pretty as gold. The color doesn't matter so much in my opinion. My husband ordered this because we've misplaced the original ps3 controller that came with his ps3 console and he wanted to play the millions of games he hasn't in forever. The controller shell itself does feel cheap but the way the buttons and sticks feel is pretty good. He said they feel better than the official ps3 controller buttons. The response on it is great too. So all in all. You sacrifice the color a bit and the shell feeling cheap but you still get quality gaming.

It's a decent replacement for sony controllers but still far from sony quality
Overall this controller works well as intended. All the button works as intended and even the tilt controls work on it pretty well too. I beat heavenly sword with it which relies heavily on the tilt controls at times. Also you can't deny the price. I got 2 controllers for less than the price of one sony controller. You wouldn't be able to complete the game without it. It beats the hell out of the ones I had to send back on the same day I got them from evoretro because one controller kept disconnecting and the other controller the L1 button kept sticking on it on the first day I had them. These have no disconnection issues. Here are the issues and there are a few. The intelligent sensor that disconnects the controller when it's inactive for 5 minutes is very annoying. It disconnects watching long cutscenes. Both controllers I bought have rattling inside when you shake them which is concerning. I thought it was odd I felt one was a bit heavier than the other. I weighed them and there's almost a 20 gram difference which makes me a little suspicious if they're both the same controller. The joysticks are a bit stiff too . So far I've played crysis which was good heavenly sword was good but on fracture a 3rd person shooter I had to turn down the controller sensitivity all the way to play it. The last controller feature I am going to mention is the rumble featur. It works but it has very cheap motors because it's nowhere near as powerful as sony controllers. Also I ordered the 18 dollar controller which is suposed to have more bells and whistles than the 12 dollar one. The 12 dollar one had the symbols on the face buttons but the 17 dollar ones had black face buttons with nothing on them. So it makes me wonder if I got the cheap controllers and overpaid by almost 15 bucks all said and done with taxes.

Does everything a controller should do at minimum
For its price, this controller gets the job done but not at the premium level an official DualShock 3 Controller would. The battery life and feel/grip of the controller are great and I have no issues with it. The buttons feel different from an official controller but are fine.My 3 main issues come from the joy sticks, trigger buttons and directional pad:- The joy sticks were stiff at first but felt more comfortable as I continued to play. If you play games that require quick and sudden joy stick movements, the controller sometimes doesn't register those inputs.- The trigger buttons work but do not have any depth control. If you lightly hold the L2 and R2 buttons, it is inputted as fully holding those buttons down.- Holding right on the directional pad also causes you to hold up for some reason. I don't know if that's an issue with just my controller but it gets annoying because I like using the directional pad over the left stick when possible. If these 3 issues are not important to you, this controller is a great replacement at its price.

not the best
i'm not going to return it, because i like the design and feel of this. i think i'll try to swap out the internals from one of my old sony controllers into this case. That said, buyers should be aware that this doesn't function properly like the official controllers do. They must be deleting/censoring reviews, because there's no way i'm the only person to have noticed. The controller will time out, and turn off randomly, instead of staying connected as a normal one would.and it also has prevented normal operation of some games. i'm not sure why, but lego marvel wouldn't load, with this controller connected. i had to disconnect it, and connect a normal one. then it would launch... so the ps3 doesn't quite treat it the same.I mean, is it cheap though. and i like the finger indents.

Stopped working after 1 day!!!!
After just 1 day this controller doesn’t work properly. When played it shifts the character to the right. Does this with every game. Very disappointed as I pretty much threw away $20. Too much of a hassle to return as I don’t have a printer etc to print label. Save your money and spend the extra $ to buy the Sony brand. At least you’ll get a working product!

Working Great!
So far so good. Bought 2 of them and seem to be working very well. I bought 2 other PS3 compatible controllers a couple of years ago and they were no good. The only thing, is when the controller times out, it takes a little bit of time to reconnect. Not sure if it's an isolated issue but this is a very tiny issue that doesn't bother me a bit.
