Helps Tame Excess Low Frequencies
I used these 1/2" thick felt panels to tone down the booming sound from the 6.5" subwoofer of my DIY computer sound system. (I had placed it in the less than ideal alcove space beneath the desk in my small, carpeted home office.) Strategically attaching halves of a few of the 12 x 16 panels to the walls and ceiling of the 'woofer cave' (with either 3/4" long washer head screws or 1" square velcro tabs) helps to absorb some of the reflected excess bass. Together with a 9 band equalizer, they were able to make my poorly placed subwoofer's sound tighter, less flabby and much improved. They can be cut neatly with a few repeated slices made by a sharp utility knife guided by a straight edge. The black color I selected makes them visually disappear down there, but I can hear the improvement.

Good Product
Used it predominantly as background decor with wooden slats. Looks great, optimum thickness and consistent texture / color.

Effective but slightly undersized, not white
On the one hand, these work well for what they’re intended to do. By ear, they reduce room reverb as least as well as acoustic wedge foam. I’d be harder on the reviews complaining about soundproofing effectiveness (this is probably not the best tool for that), if the description didn’t include the word “soundproofing”. They’re pretty rigid and command strips stick well directly, both of which make them less work to hang than foam. They’re about three times heavier, with no noticeable odor. White acoustic foam is almost impossible to find, and the one source I’ve seen wasn’t fire retardant. This is at least white-ish, and fire rated. On the other hand, they’re not 16x12. They’re very precisely cut to 15 3/4” x 11 7/8”. This doesn’t really affect coverage, but does make placing them by measurement harder and the error can visibly add up. The ‘white’ color is a very light grey with a blue cast, I’m okay with them on a white ceiling but wouldn’t put them on a white wall. Picture attached showing both measurement and comparison with white (under ~2800K light). Still giving them four stars because they work well (I ordered more after trying them out), but I wish the description was more accurate especially the measurement.

Work Well
I am using these to dampen the sound coming from my laundry. To be fair, I have not installed them in the most intelligent way due to size constraints, but they are still making a noticeable difference. Look nice too.

cutting them make a lot of mess
These panels are as listed but cutting them down to a needed size makes a lot mess and the material itself is falling a part.

Worked for me
I used these to deaden the sound of my hammering in my jewelry studio. My studio was converted from a plant are on an apartment patio and had open slatted top counters, which I covered with a thin plywood. I wanted to make sure my hobby wouldn’t disturb the neighbors, so I cut these boards to size to fit under the plywood. They work perfectly and absorb the thuds from my hammer! Not their intended purpose, but they are good quality and worked well for my needs.

Does what it is supposed to do
Used these to make boxes for in ceiling surround sound speakers. Everything worked out great and when I have guests in the rooms above they don't hear anything.

Decent low cost sound mitigation
Decent (but not great) sound reduction. For the price, they work as well as can be expected. Easy to install and look fine on wall.

These panels do not have a noticeable odour. I mounted the large tiles to the walls of my music studio with large black command strip picture hangers for easy removal when the time comes. I used medium command strips for the smaller panels. I just pressed the strip pairs in each corner and positioned them on the walls. They have been hanging for weeks without issue - easy peasy. Alien tape would be a cheaper option but it is harder to remove without damaging the walls in my experience. I think these panels look much nicer than the egg carton and waffle foam panels although they are considerably more expensive. They have removed unwanted echo from my sound room. The provided dimensions are accurate and the colour was consistent across the packs of large and smaller charcoal panels that I purchased. I am very satisfied with this product.

Since I'm a musician, I soundproofed my room with those, and they are very dense and block the sound out very well. They are also great for sound treatment.

Excellent! Dense foam in smaller pieces that can be hung on walls. Feels similar to cardboard, easy to screw in hanging hardware, light enough for 3M hooks. The colour is available in natural beige which is pretty hard to find.
