Summer Bridge Activities 4th to 5th Grade Workbooks All Subjects, Activity Book with Math, Reading Comprehension, Science, Fitness, Social Studies, Writing Practice, and Flash Cards (Volume 6) Review: May need to help older kids-challenging work - I've enjoyed having these books for the kids to do over the summer. It's about 2 pages a day and keeps them having to use their brains, as they have to do it before they can get screens. We have the 4th-5th and the 6th-7th, I'd say they are both adequately challenging, esp the older book. We have had to look up some things for the 6th-7th as there's no instructions, they just expect that you learned it/know it/remember it. So it's a good refresher but as a parent I'm fairly involved helping with it, learning it and watching YouTube videos on English sentence structure and ratios, etc. So be mindful of that if you expect your kiddo to do it on their own. Also, it often takes closer to 30 mins to complete. Otherwise, great books. Review: No summer loss all gain - Your kids will be more confident after finishing this book up in the summer

Great to bridge
Wonderful activities that really reviewed what my daughter needed for starting 5th grade. It took a few minutes each day and although she didn’t enjoy it, I noticed a difference with the start of school. Great to bridge over the summer or even during breaks.

Good Overall With Some Unforeseen Teaching Moments
This book was good overall. Parents should preview the work, especially the articles. For instance, the article on the sequoias was inaccurate. We compared the article to the National park’s web site to see the differences. This allowed for a discussion about evaluating what you are reading and fact checking what seems improbable. It was a good lesson, just not in the way the author designed it. Overall, the book was on target for the 4-5 grade transition.

definite-must-have
This has been my go-to book for the summer for the past four years for both my kids. The books are exactly what they profess to be - activities for the summer that cover Math, Language Arts, and physical fitness as well and that bridge the two grades wonderfully. The activities are designed such that the first parts of the book helps refresh the curriculum from the previous grade while the last part provides a peek into the next grade. The way the book is structured also helps build confidence and ready to tackle new material towards the end of the book. The goal setting in the beginning is definitely something my kids have enjoyed working on and the physical activities in between help provide a fun break from school work in summer. Kids can plan to spend 15-20 minutes each day working on a page or group them together for an hour or so of work every few days. Based on summer plans that we make (including travel or visiting family/friends), we pick the option that works best at the time. The book itself will withstand rough use and travel too and that is a plus point definitely. The book will not replace a teacher but will definitely help reduce "summer slide" and keep the kids doing some learning through the summer. If they do not finish it during, it can be still used anytime during the year. The answer key as well as all other helpful activities and information are an added bonus. All in all, definitely a purchase I will be making again (and feel bad that I do not see books for high school bridging)

Been successfully using for over 8 years. Buy the book one year ahead
We use these every year. If my child is going into 1st grade, we will get him the 2nd to 3rd grade book. We do not use the K to first-grade book. These books have really helped my children prepare for the upcoming year, especially the math sections. We keep to the schedule of only one page a day (front and back). Yes, your child may not fully comprehend some stuff because it is for the upcoming year, but it is not hard for a parent to spend just about 5 minutes explaining the concept. Both my sons have used this company, and the following school year, they are not

Keeps the brain sharp!!
This is a great workbook to review concepts learned during the school year. I purchased this book for my child to use during the summer to keep his mind sharp. He does a couple of pages each day, and is done! The books are wonderful for helping students retain information that is often lost during summer break. My son likes that he isn't sitting for long periods of time doing work, so it still feels like summer break vs school! Once in a while I'll catch him doing more pages, or doing some another time of the day. I have purchased other workbooks from stores, and the kids have no interest in them. The Summer Bridge books hold their attention, which is something I find positive. I also like that the book mixes concepts, so my child isn't only doing math, writing, etc. They change it up a bit, which plays a big part in holding interest. The book also comes with flash cards, stickers, and a certificate when they complete the pages. I would not use the books as a sole teaching tool, but it is great for supplementing during the school year, or for school breaks (like we are doing).I would definitely buy these again, as my children progress.

While I try every year to be a good parent and have the kids work on these to keep their mind sharp… they didn’t really do them. They did make a great addition to the other series of workbooks that have gone to die on the shelf. Great content if you’re going to actually do them.

I bought grade K-1 and Grade 4-5 for summer 2020. This is a self-motivated, self-pace summer book, my kids love them and they are keeping busy learning and also keeping active every day. I will buy summer bridge again.

Kids enjoy going through this workbook. Parents don't have to pick and choose which pages kids should work on. Kids can go through the the pages by themselves from the start to the end.

This was listed as the Canadian version but I was mailed the American version. Amazon was good about returning and refunding but be careful if you're Canadian. This book no longer comes in print. You have to buy the ebook and print it yourself. Otherwise it's SUCH a GREAT product. I've used these workbooks with my kids every summer for years.
