Bowers & Wilkins A5 Wireless Music System for iOS Devices

I was a bit worried before purchase seeing some 1 and 2 stars reviews here, pulled the trigger anyway because wife would like a music system in the bedroom. The unit came promptly, set up was easy with iPhone, and it sounds beautifully. Quite a full range sound, with decent bass and none fatiguing high. And using a high quality Apple Time Capsule as router at home, we experinced no connection issue whatsoever. I am really happy with the purchase.

I have to agree with many of the other reviewers here, and the far more numerous reviews on the Apple.com site. This speaker is well designed, visually attractive and sounds great. When it works. The Airplay support is extremely unreliable. I succeeded in setting it up after several attempts before it found my network and allowed me to complete the setup and register the product. Then it dropped the connection and I had to rescan and finally set it up all over again. Several times. Then it just stopped working and I returned it. I am not sure why this (and other Airplay speakers to be fair) are so unreliable, expecially as I have a very fast WIFI network with all Apple gear including Airport Time Machine router. And my Apple TV, on the same network, never drops. Anyway, I have concluded that Airplay compatible speakers are just not reliable and will next be trying an Airport Express with wired speakers.

I have to agree with a lot of reviewers here. I bought two of these for my house. They sound great. When.They.Work. The constant resetting of the speaker and the network everytime I try to play music is a drag. And that is with iTunes. When you try to bring a 3rd party into the mix, like Pandora or SiriusXM, it requires a re-boot of the network, the router, the computer, and the speaker. It's a wonderful speaker. The sound is amazing. When it works.

I'm going to start by saying that the sound quality is superb on this speaker...I've had this speaker for a bit under a week. I like it a lot!, but just like other people have mentioned, it disconnects and the streaming falls back to the iOS device.Observation: I've noticed that this would only happen if I'm handling the iOS device (browsing the internet, texting on iOS device etc) If I start streaming and put the iPhone or iPad down, the streaming will go on without any problems.Is it annoying? It's a little annoying.The optimistic in me thinks that this will be fixed with a software update on the speaker. Meanwhile, I'll continue to use another iOS device while I'm streaming and problem fixed.

Outstanding sound and very rich bass - and it can get loud. (Was thinking of A7 but this was smaller and cheaper and suited my needs.) Previous reviews mentioned Airplay set up being wonky - it was simple and fast for me. Your mileage may vary. I would highly recommend (and sounds better than any Bose product I've heard).

I have tried to make this product work, but it does not work. Instead, it cuts out after about ten minutes.The wireless connectivity is not ready to go.The sound is outstanding. The bass is full and the other notes are all very accurate. It works well in a small to medium sized room. If the wireless connectivity worked, I would love the product.

Great sound, great look, easy to install, it's got everything. A bit pricey, but worth it. The wifi access is priceless.
