Do not touch the stone or hard rock soil, if the soil is too hard and dry, easy to damage the probes. Copper and Aluminum itself does not belong to the hard material, so if the soil is too dry and hard to insert, you can use auxiliary agricultural tools drill hole and then insert. 2. Design for testing soil ONLY. Do not be used to test pure water or other liquid, electrolytic response index will be affected, can only be used to measure the soil. 3. Not sure if this works as a PH Meter
This instrument appears to work OK as a moisture meter, but I bought it to test soil PH. I am not sure having used it whether it works or not. The scale is 1 to 8 with only 8 being acid, and everywhere I have tried it in the garden gives a reading between 7 and 7.5. This could, of course, be perfectly true but I have also tried it in two different types of potting compost and the readings are as for the garden soil. I would have thought that the compost with 50% peat content might have given an acidic reading of 8.

I recommend, this gadget.
Looks like I have been over watering my pots. However much experience you have you can. Good buy, would recommend.

Good, seems to do what is says
Good, seems to do what is says. I got conned at Thomson,s Garden center when they sold me a kit containing of two plastic test tubes and one smaller one with some powder in it to mix with the soil for £13.00!! Probably costs around 50p to produce.

Easy to use soil tester
Simple to use, no batteries required. I bought it to test the ph value of my garden soil before planting a blue hydrangea. I also used it to check whether pots required watering. Seemed to work well although the display is quite small so not easy to read without bending down.
