God Made Me Unique: Helping Children See Value in Every Person [Joni and Friends, Trish Mahoney, Joni Eareckson Tada] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. God Made Me Unique: Helping Children See Value in Every Person Review: Disabilities are part of how God made us unique - Every person is made in the image of God and has value. God Made Me Unique: Helping Children See Value in Every Person by Joni and Friends with illustrations by Trish Mahoney aims “to help eliminate fear and misconceptions about those who have special needs and emphasize the fact that every person deserves to be treated with kindness and respect.” On an ordinary Sunday at church, Ms. Campbell has a special lesson planned to help welcome a new girl to the class. Her name is Brie, and she is unique; she “doesn’t like some sounds or loud noises she hears. So she often wears headphones to cover her ears.” The students ask questions about special needs and learn that we are all created uniquely by God- it was all part of His plan. There’s no reason to be scared and we should never exclude people based on a disability; after all, “God uses us all.” Brie feels welcome at her new church because the students understand her value, and that even with a disability she still has a part to play. Ms. Campbell uses 1 Cor. 12:20-23 to explain that there are many parts, but there is only one body. Brie, just like all the other students, is a part of that body. “Disabilities are part of how God made us unique,” but we all have special value and gifts to share within our community. This book is a great reminder that even disabilities are a part of God’s plan. This is my favorite book about disabilities. The illustrations are colorful and fun, and the rhymes make this an entertaining read aloud for all ages. The included Bible verses paint a clear picture for children on why and how they should treat others, no matter their ability. I also appreciate the variety of disabilities displayed from autism to those who need wheelchairs, leg braces, or seeing eye dogs. This is a beautiful book teaching kids about their worth, and how to be a friend to someone who is “different.” Highly recommend adding this one to your home and church libraries! Review: Everyone is Unique! - It is a very important message for children.

As Unique as the Title Suggests, A Lovely Book!
An outstanding look at what it means to see value in every person as a unique creation of God, then communicating that truth on a child's level in a way that they can easily understand. What an amazing tool for parents and teachers, especially in a church setting.
