Elegant Medieval Iron-On Transfer Patterns (Dover Crafts: Iron-On Transfers)

I bought this for my mother who loves to sew. She said she is very happy with the book.

These are a ton of fun and I really love the different styles. You can do them any which way you please, meaning if you want to take the fancy goat thingy and make it into a zombie animal, you totally can! The designs transfered well. I have only used them once, so I'm not sure about how mulitple transfers will work. There is a note in the back of the book about using aluminium foil to get more bang for your buck. There must be something metalic or magnetic in the ink for that to work. I've heard rumor of some of these designs fading. I did a batch of 9 two weeks ago and I can't tell if there is any fading in the one's I still have yet to do, so if there is it appears to be very slow. Once you cut these out, there isn't much room to hold onto them, but you can pin it to your ironing board so it stays in place (three pins on one side will do). If you use it for something other than fabric, you may need to tape or wear high-heat resistant gloves so you don't accidentially singe your fingers. Overall, I'm quite please with my purchase, but let you be warned: THERE IS NOT 150+ DESIGNS! IT'S ONLY 135 EXACTLY. I'm not missing any panels in my book either. So, that's a little bit of false advertising. I don't care enough to do anymore then mention it as it's still a great price, but just keep that in mind if you get it.

Not as authentic as I’d hoped the images would be. Too many gargoyles; perhaps I am the wrong audience. K

I love this book! Only problem may just be user error, I had a hard time getting the entire image to transfer. It really could just be that I didn't have the iron hot enough. Otherwise, I am very pleased for buying this blind! I wanted to include pictures so others may have an idea of what is inside. Really, quite gorgeous and intricate patterns!Beautiful! This was purchased as a gift for a friend who does a lot of SCA type stuff and other costuming. She was quite pleased with the book, and though she may never actually use the patterns directly, she was already making plans for adapting some of the patterns to decorate this year's gowns. I consider that a big success!

Interesting designs but they don’t transfer well even after a minute of almost scorching heat.

This book was used but looks like new. The designs run from 1" to 9" with a good variety to choose from. I'd say there are around 30 designs in all. I haven't ironed them on yet but the designs are beautiful. Looking forward to embroidering some stunning pillow cases.

I love to hand embroider. The new machines do magnificent designs, but for me doing it by hand is a must. This product allows me to create just the right picture and lets me do my thing.
