Well, I guess I won't kill myself...
These were the only shoes I wore 10 years ago... I had owned about 8 pairs when they discontinued them. They went on clearance and I bought about 10 more pairs over the next couple years until I couldn't find any more. Once my last pair disintegrated on my feet, I quit my job and broke up with my girlfriend. I became a shut-in, subsisting off pizza and Dr. Pepper. This went on for years; I was disgusting! Then one day, I kicked a 2 liter of DP on my way to the bathroom and it caused me to look down at my feet, they looked sad and pathetic without my beloved Chet IVs. I thought, what have I got to live for anyway!?! I went straight to my old desktop computer. I sat down at the desk and urinated myself, then I pulled up amazon to order some rope and a book on knot-tying. But then, the strangest thing happened, under the "suggested items" right on the front page, there was a picture of my shoes! Brand new Globe Chet IVs! I thought it must be too good to be true, but my size was listed available! I ordered 14 pairs with next day delivery and I have a new lease on life! Praise Chet Thomas!

Thanks for these Globe but...wait...
Okay first of all I have to say I'm 27 and I originally had a pair of these when I was like 12 and they had been out for a couple years. But they were still selling strong and I remember realizing why. I skated, ran around, jumped out of trees, jumped down stairs on my board and did all sorts of things for an entire year and the shoes remained virtually the same, especially considering I couldn't do flip tricks yet. One day my mom threw them away and I absolutely flipped out and she just kept going back to how "no they were done." I distinctly remember going a year with them and thinking "wow these don't even smell" and I was satisfied I never once had to question the integrity of those things.Today, the modern version is close but no cigar. They are basically the same in appearance on your foot, which is good if you want to just rock them. But they aren't that insane quality. They are triple stitched and have all that paneling and all that but they don't have like that memory foam insole and just supreme ankle comfort. However the toes and forefoot feel awesome. Unfortunately mine were the "Battleship" color and are made out of nubuck and leather which both broke in to show a ton of wrinkling. I kneeled on cement once and the toe box on one shoe totally tore up. Now they look totally blemished but they don't seem like they will skate the same. They are several months broken in but they just don't remind me of the old ones. Would I buy another pair, YES. Just needs a little more padding where ankle meets forefoot like another person said.

Globe's been going downhill for a while now..
This is the third pair of Globes I've had that have started like, disintegrating after 3 or less months. I've bought these style of shoes from Globe habitually since I was like 15, so for like 18 years I've been buying these shoes. What can I say, I love the comfort of the unisock, they're comfortable cool looking shoes. I've had them usually last somewhere around the neighborhood of a year, but in the last 2 years I've had these things just fall apart internally or externally from normal use. I'd get it if I still skated, but I have been wearing these in alternation with another pair of Globes (that are also doing the same thing) for just a few days over 2 months- and the sole is starting to crack/come apart on the outside. Another thing that bothered me from the moment I unboxed them, the white accents seem to have the blue bleeding through. Like I said, if I was skating these things and ripping them up, I'd get it, but I'm in my 30's and work in IT now, it's not like I'm subjecting these things to even close to what they're 'supposed to' be able to handle. Seems like Globe's overall quality has significantly gone down over the past few years.

Bad A$$ shoe. Made well
made very well , I usually wear a size 10 to 10 ½ depending on the brand of shoe Fortunately they only had a 10 left and it fits perfect. Maybe a little snug but definitely not uncomfortable. And since I don't tie the shoes anyway a little snug is perfect for me. They are made very well and they are different than any shoe I have ever owned or we venture seen for that matter. First of all they are super comfy with thick cushion like material all the way around the foot. Here it is, its like putting on a sock. Your foot goes into a boot-like shoe inside of a shoe. Its like a sock cushion that is attached to the shoe. I really dig it and i love the idea. Like I said very comfortable. I would say fits as expected and the size is very true. Get em they are the bomb diggity.

These shoes are tight to get into but very durable and mad cushiony .
My second pair straight back to back b i love the old school 90's skate shoes era !! , this color looks lilac but who cares really i get skate shoes to skate and destroy not to treat like expensive porcelain dolls meant to be heavily protected i don't really care what color the shoe as long as it's comfortable good find and buy if you like(d) this shoe get it ! , I'm a wider foot man I went true to size but with thinner compression socks I wouldn't recommend going up 1/2 size with this style shoe as I have with a similar model from Globe and it was so big and clunky feeling didn't skate really well either .

Paying top dollar for skate shoes is smarter than you think
I'm a shoe junkie at heart. Anything that sets my eyes immediately to my own feet is a winner in my book. These classic style shoes clash with "formal" wear just as they're meant to. They bring back the essence of skateboarding in its prime days of the late 90s to early 2000s. As they should due to being a pro model shoe for pro skater Chet Thomas. Meaning these are designed to not only look cool, but to be comfortable in athletic situations. They can slip right on with their "tongue-to-collar" design, but stay snug on your feet with elastic to keep the tongue held down towards the sole. The heel also contains air cushions for impact protection, so no worries on bigger jumps. If you're a fan of early aughts skateboarding or a high flying skater yourself, I highly recommend checking these out. But it's a hard sell between these and Osiris D3s. More on that to come...

I still own a few pair of the original so its easy to compare visually speaking they are a bit smaller ...
Those are replica of the original Chet Thomas from the 90 . I still own a few pair of the original so its easy to comparevisually speaking they are a bit smallerQuality is on the downside , feels much cheaper then the orginal . I dont do skateboarding anymore and was able to kill those in just over a year of inside use ( stitches just breaks , plastic breaks, laces actually got broken and I dont even lace them i just keep them loose )So no they aren't as good but they are the closest thing to the real thing . You can still buy the original on ebay and such but good luck , i bought several pair and the material is so dry they literally broke in half within 2 weekIf you never owned the original you will like these . Note they are snug fit and will relax and mold to your feet with time
