Great value!
Arrived yesterday. A top quality guitar for a reasonable price. It feels good in my hands and has a wonderful warm tone. All I had to do was make a very minor adjustment to the truss rod, and it's perfect. The workmanship cannot be beat. I hangs right next to a 50 year old D-35, and the snotty remarks from the Martin don't seem to affect it at all. I am becoming a Yamaha fan, this one being #3....

It arrived in perfect condition.
Sounds great. Great fit and finish. My first Yamaha guitar.

Fantastic guitar
I wanted to upgrade from a $200 Fender (which was a great guitar for what it was) to something better and all my research pointed to the Yamaha FGX5. I compared it with more expensive Taylors and Martins and determined the Yamaha to be a much better value. The only problem is that I could not actually get my hands on one and demo it before buying because stores sell out of them if they get them in stock at all. So I risked it and have been quite pleased with how it feels and sounds. Just like all the extremely positive reviews out there online. The case is heavy, but very well made. Pickup in the Yamaha sounds perfect through sound system with minimal adjustments.

Defies expectations
At this price point is an exceptional instrument. I got it as a second guitar. I much prefer the rich full tone of the bigger body, so I got the FGX5 , and this has rich base and great resonance. Fretboard very easy to play. Way better than a much pricier Martin.
