Expensive & decedent
Expensive, small tubes of limited colour range, although good colours. Windsor & Newton would have been cheaper, but I was drawn to the ‘elitism’ and names of the colours! Don’t think I can afford to expand the colour palette:(

Great watercolours
Daniel Smith paints are the benchmark for watercolour and this set did not disappoint. They are not cheap but I think with this medium you get what you pay for.

I saw the Daniel Smith watercolours in an art promo by Jean Haines whose work I love. She has partnered with Daniel Mith on this particular range of shimmer colours. I added two other colours which make a great palette to work with. The quality is superb and the range of colours is good.

Nelle foto potete vedere la tavola dei colori con le ultime 3 cifre del codice e il nome. Le tonalità di questo set sono molto interessanti, anche se devo ammettere che, se avessi trovato in vendita i singoli tubetti, forse avrei fatto altre scelte. Il "chiaro di luna" è il mio preferito. Da asciutti risultano brillanti, carichi, molto trasparenti quando diluiti. Non li ho ancora sperimentati ma sono curiosa di vedere come riuscirò a gestire sulla carta dei pigmenti così particolari. Gli acquarelli Daniel Smith sono famosi per la "granulosità" e per gli effetti che creano. Ho acquistato una tavolozza richiudibile per non sprecare neanche un nanogrammo di questi preziosissimi colori. Ultima considerazione: l'elevato costo li configura come un prodotto ad esclusivo uso dei professionisti; io consiglio questi acquerelli anche a tutti gli appassionati che padroneggiano un po' la tecnica, perché l'alta qualità rende la tecnica più facile.
