Better power than expected.
I've put this through more than I should have and it has come out a champ. It's really meant for smaller trees but I have used it to cut through a 2 foot diameter tree. It's much, much, less maintenance than my gas saw (it's also nearly impossible to find people who do gas chainsaw repair).

Small but mighty!!
I’ve had this chainsaw for about 5 years. There was just a storm in my neighborhood and a tree was blocking the road. I went home and got my little but mighty chainsaw to do some cleanup. It performed so well and only used 1 40v battery! Can’t say enough good things about this little guy. The pictures show after the cleanup. The tree was completely across the road in the grass when I started.

A fantastic workhorse but with a few flaws if using on bigger jobs
I live on a treed lot and occasionally need to cut up downed limbs or trim branches. I typically call pros out to handle the big stuff. I got tired of fighting my old 2-cycle saw and since I already had a couple of other B&D tools that used the same battery I bought this saw and gave away my gas saw.Little did I know that one month after buying it we would have an historical ice storm in Feb 2023 that would leave my yard looking like a war zone. We had so many downed limbs that I couldn't walk from my front door to the end of the driveway - literally there was no way to get there without cutting my way out.I was initially dreading using my new saw because I was pretty sure it wasn't going to have the guts to do what my old gas saw did. However, I put on a pair of work gloves and went to work. Low and behold, I was surprised at how the little B&D saw cut through limb after limb and barely complained until the battery ran out of juice. It doesn't have the chain speed of my old gas saw but it has plenty of torque and a sharp chain will cut right through oak like butter. The saw also had good balance, and I never felt tired from using it. A few months later I had 3+ cords of firewood and the city hauled off 4 large trucks of brush that I'd piled up.Now, it's not perfect - I have a few complaints:1. The battery is good for about 30 minutes of cutting and then needs to go on the charger. It then takes about 4 or 5 hours to charge, often needing to cool down before actually charging. This is where multiple batteries from other tools comes in, but my oldest battery - 4 years old - will not cut wood. It will spin the chain but as soon as it hits wood the saw stops. That old battery works fine in the weed trimmer but it doesn't have enough left to effectively run the saw. So, that leaves me with two good batteries which works out to one hour of cutting before I have to take a 4 or 5 hour break. Hence, it took me 3 months of weekends to get the yard finally cleaned up. Thankfully, I have a patient wife.2. The saw gulps bar oil. In a way this is good because it keeps the chain from getting dulled. However, in my gas saw it would run out of bar oil and gas at roughly the same time, which was convenient for filling both up. It would be nice if B&D had a bigger bar oil tank so that it ran out at the same time as the battery instead of needing to refill 2 or 3 times per charge.3. The chain that came with it does not have a sharpening guide on it to make sure you're sharpening at the correct angle. A minor inconvenience since you can get pretty close just eyeballing it.Overall, it's a fantastic saw, and I have no doubt that it will meet expectations for what I had originally intended it to be: a plug-and-play saw for use a few times a year to clean up limbs and such. It may even do a bit more than that, but certainly it isn't meant for serious cutting or professional use. Even considering its flaws I would recommend it for most homeowners' use.

Hard-working machine
Cuts surprisingly well. Lightweight and easy to use. Good battery life.

Pretty Nice Saw
While I was looking for an electric chain saw I had to pause and clean up a mess. I got out my Black and Decker cordless vacuum, which I've had for several years and been very happy with. It made me wonder if B&D made battery operated chainsaws. To my surprise they do, so I bought this model. Both the saw and spare battery I got with it cost less than other name brand saws and surpassed my expectations. I also have a Ryobi electric chain saw, and this B&D model is better quality, saws better, and the battery lasts longer. Black and Decker will be my first stop from now on.

Works great on small trees.
I had my doubts when I bought the saw but it has met my exceptions. No gas and no extension cords. Easy to use. I cut down a couple of 15' high trees with trunk diameters of 8" with one battery charge. If cutting thick trunks or branches you have to be patient and not push too hard. If you try to go too fast and push too hard the internal circuit breaker trips but it automatically resets in about 5 seconds. Great for trimming and small trees.

Handy, Durable, Very Good Battery Life
This little chainsaw is a nice workhorse especially for outside household cutting needs. I had to trim up lower branches of oak and pecan trees which was not super heavy duty work; however, the saw ate away at the wood with no problem and I am sure could have handled larger pieces. (Boy I sure felt like cutting down some bigger trees just to have fun with my new toy, but controlled myself) Several large limbs had fallen down earlier in the year during heavy winds and I finally bought this little "eager beaver" and got around to cutting and storing firewood for the next season. I got this 40 volt unit because I had previously purchased several 20 volt pieces of equipment including a hedge trimmer, weed eater and blower. The blower was especially disappointing because it did not blow a strong enough current of air to move many leaves or blow out a birthday candle at a distance. That's why I decided to get a 40 volt unit. I had purchased a 40 volt B&D hedge trimmer that worked out well and the battery power was good. So when I purchased this chain saw, I was able to buy the unit and use the same battery. If you plan to do a lot of cutting, you might need to have and extra battery on hand for uninterrupted cutting. Sorry I didn't keep track of how long I cut, but I'm sure I cut continuously for more than an hour. I got about 95% of what I needed to cut done. I was ready to take a break anyway. The oiler kept the unit continually oiled, so much so that my clothes were quite splattered with oil slung off the chain. The oil window made it easy to know when to add more. I preferred it oil that well to keep the chain in good condition. I can always wash my raggedy clothes that my wife insists I should have thrown away long ago. I don't GQ dress for outdoor work anyway. (By the way, they show two quarts of oil as a companion purchase. I think that's a good idea to get two.)I had to adjust the chain a couple of times due to the angle with which I tried to cut the limbs (I couldn't quite cut from the top of the attached limb and as it was coming down it crunched down on the chain and seized it), but the adjustment knobs were easy to maneuver and resetting the the chain was a cinch. I felt that this was a great buy. I think Washington had one of these when he couldn't help but cut down that cherry tree. I'm sure he ticked Pa Pa Washington off when he saw all his sweet cherries were gone.
