Conklin Duragraph Fountain Pen Amber - Medium Nib, Elegant Writing Tool with Warm Amber Finish

This pen has become one of my prized possessions, I take it everywhere, I receive compliments on it nearly every time I use it in a public setting. I am a songwriter, so I always have a pen and a pad with me to jot down ideas and those lines that pop into my head, I honestly find myself sitting at my local coffee haunt just doodling with this pen for the pleasure of using it, It is beautiful to look at, reminding me of a bygone era when things were made with care and quality. I love old watches for the same reason, Even the nib on this pen is beautiful to look at with its gold accents. It writes smoothly and is well balanced, however it is a large pen and if you post the cap on the back of the pen when you write it is long and a bit top heavy but the up side is that beautiful amber swirl and chrome trim of this pen catches everyone's eye when its sticking out far above your hand. There are more expensive fountain pens for sure, better? who knows. More beautiful? Unlikely, I cant remember when I have been happier spending $50 or under on anything. Do yourself a favor spoil yourself a bit and buy this pen, or one for someone you care about. The case it comes in is impressive and as beautiful as the pen itself. You can NOT go wrong with this pen.

This is an attractive pen, presented in a handsome stitched faux leather box. I don't know if it's a full-on copy of Conklin's old Duragraph, but it's a well-executed throwback design. As a writer, the Duragraph holds its own against other pens in the $30-60 price class, and though I've read complaints about Conklin nibs this one wrote well out-of-the-box. It lays down a good, wet line with a nib as smooth as the Lamy Safari, Lamy Al-Star, Pilot Metropolitan, Sheaffer VFM, etc. The nib is steel and stiff... The converter threads into the feed, it doesn't just press in--a first in my experience. I prefer piston fillers for ease of filling and greater capacity. For that reason and for smoothness of writing action I rank the TWSBI Eco and Diamond 580 ahead of this pen. But TWSBI sets the bar high, and the Duragraph's no slouch even if it doesn't have the exquisite smoothness and huge reservoir of TWSBI. Buy this pen for its looks. It's a competent pen that, like the TWSBI, competes with more expensive pens--TWSBI on the basis of writing excellence, this pen on the basis of a classy throwback design. Though the Duragraph isn't a demonstrator, its celluloid barrel and cap permit glimpses of the working parts of the pen when the pen is closed. The cap posts, but barely. There's just enough purchase for the cap to teeter precariously off the back of the pen when in use. I don't care for the back-heavy feel, but at least it posts. If a cap doesn't post I find it distracting. The Duragraph's clip is stiff and attractive. It looks solid from the front, its back is concave. But the ciip's tear-drop bottom is elegant, and the whole is well-polished. Three trim rings are equally bright. Inside the section, the threads attaching the section to the barrel are metal. The cap itself attaches to the barrel by threads in the cellulose of barrel and cap. Buy this pen for its looks. For the price you can get between 3 and 20 Jinhaos that will write just as well. But they won't have the elegance of this pen.

This pen is a beautiful patterned amber or orange with black accents. It is semi-transparent, so the level of ink in the converter or in the ink cartridge is visible without having to open the pen. It is of very high quality. The medium nib writes well, and is more like a fine nib in how it writes rather than a medium nib, but it writes very smoothly and does not skip. I actually like the precision of the lines that it makes. The ink has not dried out and the pen writes immediately even if it is not used for several days. It's a great value. I highly recommend it.

My third Conklin pen and it’s a great writer. The Forest Green version is elegant.

This is a beautiful, low cost, fine quality pen. The M-nib was a bit wide for my liking, so I ordered an F-nib which I like better. No problem with either one. The reported nib issues from five years ago apparently have been resolved. (I use Iroshizuku Tzuki-Yo ink on Rhodia or Mnemosyne paper, and I never pay more than $150 for a fountain pen.)

Not as nice as I had hoped. Feels a bit cheap. Was going to send it back but it writes better than more expensive pens.

As stated in other reviews. It's a very nice pen with the worse nib I've ever experienced. Hardly writes, have to press down hard to get it any ink flowing and very scratchy. Upon looking in the loop, the nib was malformed and deformed. No amount of nib alignment can fix this puppy without grinding out a new point. What's the point of owning a nice looking pen that feels great in hand but can't write a sentence? Needless to say, it was summarily returned. Come on' Conklin. This is embassing!

My second Duragraph and this pen is fantastic. The orange just pops against the black and it also writes really well. At this price it is hard to go wrong.

Best writing instrument anybody could have up to 7000 INR price range. Its just mind-blowingly perfect in every aspect. A must have one. The seller is also very good. Supplied the product in mint condition.

Dopo aver letto e visto diverse recensioni, alcune positive altre meno, ho acquistato questa Duragraph ambra, con pennino medio, attratto dall'estetica ma con apprensione per quanto riguardo la qualità di scrittura. Ebbene, vuoi per i pennini Jowo che equipaggiano la produzione più recente di Conklin, vuoi per la bontà dell'esemplare a me giunto, debbo riconoscere che la penna scrive egregiamente. Messa in funzione subito col suo converter (dopo una serie di lavaggi) caricato con inchiostro Parker blu, ho riscontrato una fluidità di tratto veramente ottima, nessuno skipping né partenze ritardate. Vedremo nel tempo, l'inizio è incoraggiante.

Der Füller liegt gut in der Hand, trocknet nicht aus und schreibt sauber. Eine gute Wahl. Ich hatte vorher für den täglichen Gebrauch einige Waterman und Parker Modelle in Gebrauch. Diese waren bei weitem nicht so gut.

It's a good pen except for the fact that it barely is able to post. And the dryer chinese feed instead of a JoWo feed.
