Can the seat be removed and used without the seat?

Yes. We removed seat for our 8 year old son. He was just a little too short for seat. It is great with or without seat.

What's the best way to avoid overcharging or undercharging the battery between uses?

All these dry acid batteries lifetime are measured in battery cycles. So its not important overcharging or undercharging (The charger has a built in features that avoids damages by overcharging) but if you do not wait till the light changes from red to green, you are adding charging cycles and shortening the overall battery life. So my recommendation is do not charge every time you are back to the charging station, but when you feel a decrease in the scooters power) and once charging begins, wait till its fully charged (And add some time more, because even with green light it gets a better charge)

What type of replacement battery do I need to purchase? Where can I find a replacement battery?

I upgraded to 9 amp. batteries when the OEM's gave up. I used "Chrome Battery" on ebay store, approx. $35.00 for two. The store is very reliable, the batteries came very quickly - about two days - and free shipping. Chrome Battery products come with an 18 month warranty; I would definitely use them again.

I believe the weight limit stated is 160 lbs., but it worked well for me at 180 lbs. Just don't expect top speed when riders are over 120 - 140 lbs.
