This book is an essential guide for secondary teachers who want to meet the language development needs of diverse students in classrooms across the United States and the world. We are using it for credential students in the Dual Language Education department in the College of Education of San Diego State University. I recommend it highly.

This is required reading for one of my classes. It is similar to the Gibbons book which I find more reader friendly.

I was shocked to see how positive the reviews were for this book. As a High School teacher with ELL students in my classroom, I feel as though the editors of this book are beyond out of touch. This text is unnecessarily dense and frankly… boring. I am involved in dozens of Professional Development book studies each year and this was by far the worst text I have used yet. No thank you!
