Works great other than the fact the heat light doesn't turn on, but I can feel the heat, I just wish the light worked. I love the fact it's powerful enough to stir my 5000ml beaker.

I haven't used this very much, and I read that a lot of buyers complained about the "thermostat" being too sensitive, but for the price it's great. It's true, you do have to be very careful with the temperature adjustment, and it doesn't show a temperature scale, but for what I'll use it for it should do fine. I will say it might be a little hard to adjust this thing for simply warming a liquid. It seems to do best when you need a slow or fast boil. It does seem like it should last a long time.

For the price, you can't go wrong. Well made and has a powerful heating element. Comes with a stirrer and a stand for holding other gear.

We bought one, and it stopped working in two days. We replaced it, and the second one burned itself up the first day! We returned that one and are going to buy another brand. Now having to deal with returning the second one and getting a refund... Not recommended.

Looking to up my home brewing game, I bought a 5L Erlenmeyer flask to replace a 2L version. Unfortunately, my original stir plate, one made for home brewing, wasn't up to the task. Looked at the upgraded home brewing stir plates and found them lacking. So, for just a few dollars more the SH-3, a real stir plate, found its way to me. Using just water, I experimented with a variety of stir bars and the SH-3 handled them with aplomb. I settled on a smooth bar simply because it was quieter than the others. The heater works extremely well, but I don't have much use for it. I've made three yeast starters using the SH-3, including a multi-stage starter, and the SH-3 is definitely up to the task. For the multi-stage starter it ran for the better part of a week without a hitch. Highly recommended.

I bought two. I left one with only stirring on overnight and for some reason the heating turned on in the middle of the night and dried out my reaction, burnt the solids and broke the glass. The little knob to turn the heating on was on the off setting! The other one is working fine so far but I work with reactions that need to stay stirring overnight and now I don't trust it.

I like it so far. Sturdy. Doesn't sounds wrong. Motor seems determined because some of my processes take a few days to dissolve. One tiny gripe is an off-putting smell when the heater is up high.

I'm testing this unit with a small Pyrex bowl filled with water. So far it's working, both the stirrer and the heating element. I think I will preheat the water first on my stove then pour into my beaker, as I think that would speed up the process.
