The Magic of Luxardo Cherries
If you've ever wondered what pure, unadulterated luxury tastes like, it’s in the form of a Luxardo cherry. These little gems are nothing short of magical, turning any drink—or dessert—into an experience that feels like an upgrade. The Taste First off, let’s talk about flavor. Luxardo cherries are a sweet, syrupy delight, but they’re not cloying. The deep, rich cherry flavor is balanced with just the right amount of tartness, creating a complexity that’s rare in your average maraschino cherry. They have this almost boozy undertone, thanks to their infusion in cherry liqueur, giving them a grown-up charm that makes every sip feel like an event. The Texture It’s not just about the taste—these cherries also have the perfect texture. Firm yet yielding, they’re the kind of fruit that almost feels like it’s been handpicked just for you. There’s none of that weird mushiness you sometimes get with lesser cherries, just a satisfying pop when you bite in. Versatility Sure, you can throw them into a classic cocktail like a Manhattan or an Old Fashioned (and they’ll make your drink look way fancier). But don’t stop there—these cherries are as magical in a sundae, a fruit salad, or even on their own as a sweet treat. The syrup is equally enchanting and can be used in cocktails, drizzled over ice cream, or just spooned straight into your mouth if you're feeling bold. The Experience Opening a jar of Luxardo cherries feels like cracking open a treasure chest—like you’re about to enjoy something rare and special. They elevate everything they touch, turning an ordinary cocktail hour into a celebratory event. Verdict: Luxardo cherries are the culinary equivalent of adding a touch of gold leaf to your life. They're sweet, tangy, and deliciously addictive. Whether you're a cocktail enthusiast or someone who just appreciates great fruit, these cherries are worth every penny. Five stars—because why settle for ordinary when you can have magic in a jar?

These are worth every penny!
Well, now I cannot buy/use/eat any other maraschino cherries. These are amazing! So large, sweet, delicious, with fabulous syrup. Expensive? to be sure. But they are worth their price!

Delicious!
I love these and Fabri cherries. Both excellent in their own way. I like Fabri for the presentation but Luxardo and a darker flavor

Best Cherry Ever - Sober or Intoxicated
So, my friends and I were in Fado's Irish Pub in D.C. last week. We were already a few drinks in when we ordered a round of Old Fashioned's. Now, as you may know, an Old Fashioned usually comes with a cherry or two in it. Typically, the cherry will be of the unnaturally bright red variety; tasty, but nothing special. However, when our Old Fashioned's arrived we saw something we'd never seen before. At the end of a bamboo skewer, at the bottom of our glasses, were these strange little orbs. Almost black in color and about the size of a marble. We were intrigued. What were these little gems? One of my friends took his out of the drink and ate it. He declared it was a cherry, but not just any cherry, one of the best cherries he had ever tasted. I tried mine and agreed wholeheartedly. We asked the waitress what kind of cherries these were, and after checking with the bar she returned, and explained they were Luxardo Cherries. I think we ordered another round, just to get more cherries, but I could be wrong. Things began getting a little hazy somewhere around this point. By the way, Fado's is a great place if you're looking for an authentic Irish Pub in D.C. Their Irish coffee was very good was well. So we left Fado's and went to a few other establishments. At some point along the way I began drunk Priming. I found Luxardo Cherries, and it was a no brainer. Upon my return to South Carolina, my cherries were waiting on me. Now, the test...would they be as good sober as they were drunk. I tentatively tried the first cherry, a little afraid that it would be a disappointment. I was pleasantly surprised. If the cherries were a 10/10 while drunk in an Irish pub, they were a solid 8/10 stone cold sober in my kitchen. Also, right out of the jar, they didn't have the benefit of marinating in some bourbon for a few minutes prior to consumption. So the logical next step was to make a drink and throw a couple of these bad boys in. I just made a bourbon on the rocks and added a few Luxardo's. Sipped my drink for a while and then popped one of those beautiful little black pearls in my mouth. It was heavenly. We're back in 10/10 territory people! Do yourself a favor and buy a jar of Luxardo's. Also, find a bar which uses Luxardos instead of imitation maracinnos, and never go anywhere else. Because you know what? They care about the little things.

Worth the price!
These are my husband's favorite cherries! Great addition to a good class of whiskey.

Had to change my prior review to 5 stars
Updated review: I admit, not being much of a cherry person, I wasn’t initially impressed. However, having recently experienced a side by side vs. plain old super market cherries, wow. There really is no comparison. They are ‘all that, with a cherry on top’. I bought them because my sister likes to drink Old Fashioneds (which are not really my cup of tea, or whiskey, rather). the first time she made one for me, I thought that she had accidentally used furniture polish. Or that she was trying to poison me (which I would not put past her. Our political views are so polar opposite, we each switch beverages when the other isn’t looking). But I digress, where was I? Oh yes, cherries. Every Old Fashioned recipe I looked up and most of the recipe reviews, specifically stated that these cherries were the ONLY acceptable cherries That, without these extraordinary cherries, an Old Fashioned was not a legitimate Old Fashioned! I was led to believe that one taste of these delectable, scrumptious little treats, would practically have me writhing in ecstasy, a near religious experience. Having convinced me that these were the ‘cherries of the gods’, I sucked it up and spent the ridiculous price for a jar of these purported magical, life transforming cherries. I waited in eager anticipation, for this jar of special sweet little fruits to delight my senses (presuming I had any sense). When they arrived (very well packaged), I could not contain my excitement! I could barely make it from the mailbox to my house, clawing greedily at the packaging to finally tear the lid off the jar. And (drum roll). Meh. A bit of a let down. In all fairness, I should mention that I have the palate of a hungry wolverine, so perhaps my tastebuds are not sophisticated enough to appreciate any subtle, or even mind blowing differences. Maybe they were overhyped to such a degree that my expectations were unreasonably/unrealistically high? Maybe having spent that much money for a jar of cherries, I had expected a life altering revelation; indeed, perhaps my level of anticipation was such, that I expected to see the Gods, and commune with nature. Or maybe (and more likely), I’m just an idiot. Ah, well, I guess life is not a jar of cherries. At least for me. Bon appetite!

Cost-to-Enjoyment Ratio Falls Short
Based on fantastic reviews, I splurged on this $25 jar of cherries for cocktails. They are “very good” cherries; however, I don’t think they’re worth the price.

Authentic Maraschino Cherries
Original Luxardo Maraschino cherries. These are my go-to cherries for cocktails, especially Manhattans. They are rich, flavorful, and sweet without any chemical flavors that sometimes show up in other brands.
