Not sure about 970, but a Founder's 1080 and an RTX 2060 fit perfectly if those work for a size cmoparison.

Yes the 550 Breakaway Box does support the GeForce RTX 2080 and 2080 Ti.

Is this product compatible with an Nvidia Tesla K80?

No. The Tesla K80 is not on the NVIDIA list of supported eGPUs. Nvidia GPUs are not supported at all by Apple in macOS. The Tesla K80 does not have a fan or blower, which is required of a video card to be used in the Breakaway Box.
