Kids & "The Cube"
I was hesitant to pay $30 for this product. After 2 months of daily use- I would but it again in an instant. We purchase the 5 10 20 45 model so that we could use it for: short timeouts, limiting shower time, morning routine, bedtime routine, getting ready for dinner, homework and reading, cleaning their room, socks and shoes and out the door. There's so many uses and it's so simple to set by just tipping it on its side. We use it for a six, eight, 10, and 13 year old. The fact that it beeps and flashes is an excellent feature for someone with a disability OR for when your teenager is playing video games with a headset or earbuds. "I didn't hear the timer go off" doesn't work since it flashes too. It resets just by tipping it to a new timer. Also is able to pause and resume by tipping upside down. The product has a small simple digital display, which saves battery life. We use it to set at least 10 to 15 timers a day for 4 kids and the batteries lasted a month. Cost to use frequently is $1/month. Also, because there are no moving parts, it runs smoothly. This product is well designed and is intuitive to use. So simple, so perfect. WARNING: Also realize that by buying this product you make it possible for your wife to set limits for YOU as well. When you say you'll be ready in 5 minutes... She might just tip the cube on you to keep you honest -haha.DO NOT get the OTHER visual timers as the moving parts wear out and jam.

Time Out Your Activities
I purchased this product to help me break up my activities and to keep me on task. I study by 20 minute intervals and then 'break' for 5 minutes. This is easy to use and a quick and easy way to follow. I also use this for my granddaughter while trying to crib-sleep train her (five minutes of crying, five minutes of patting and reassuring, and this continues until she falls asleep.)

In productivity bliss!
The first purchase I made of this timer didn’t go so well. Hidden inside the folded instructions was a little piece of paper with an illustration of how to put in the AAA batteries correctly. It warned that if you put the batteries in with the positive and negative ends reversed, you could immediately burn out the device. Unfortunately I didn’t find this piece of paper until I started putting the timer back in the box to return it after I smelled a strong electrical burning odor and the device did not function.I received my replacement timer two days later, quickly found the little paper with the battery instructions, installed them correctly, and I’ve been been in productivity bliss ever since! I love using this little timer. It’s so simple to turn on and turn off. I use it as part of a ritual to start a task block of any kind. When I require silence and concentration, I also put in ear plugs and turn off all notifications on my devices. I like that the alarm can be silenced and the signal be only the tiny, flashing blue lights. I end a timed session by hitting my big, red “EASY button,“ made by Staples (available on Amazon.). A fun way to get tasks done with focus or to limit one’s time on a break. My only suggestions to improve the timer would be to make the digital countdown timer in the little central window easier to read ... and print the battery instructions on the box itself!

Just because it's more expensive doesn't make it better.
Tldr: Purchased timer to increase productivity. Ended up spending time writing negative review for product instead of being productive. Do yourself a favor, purchase a different timer.I purchased this timer because I'm constantly managing multiple clients at any given time. I tend to get sucked into my work and can go longer than planned on tasks. My hope with this timer was to be able to quickly set a time and be able to move through my projects more efficiently. I imagine some of you are looking for a similar fix. There were a few cheaper options but I wanted something sturdy that worked well so I opted to spend a few extra dollars to get something good. Out of the box it felt very lightweight and cheap. Not that lightweight is a problem, but cheap is. I decided to give it a go anyway. I flipped it over and removed the battery cover that isn't attached in any way so it springs out. Be prepared or it will flip under a piece of furniture and you'll spend 20 minutes looking for it.I put new batteries in the timer, turned it on and......nothing. I wasn't expecting balloons and a party but I was at least expecting a beep or light or something to show it was working. Nope. Nothing. Maybe I put the batteries in upside down? Nope. Not the problem. Maybe I purchased bad batteries? Nope. Tried two more sets.On the third set I held the cover down on the batteries so it pushed in and made contact. Success! Light and sound! And I had the number 5 up so it started counting down from 5 minutes. I set the timer on the counter which required releasing my hold on the battery cover, and the screen went out again and shut the timer off. This morning I thought I would give it one more go. Not even holding the battery cover down is making the dern thing come on. Sending it back and purchasing one of the cheaper options in hopes of more success.I even tried to set a timer for how long I allowed myself to spend on this review. I've gone over my time because my timer wouldn't turn on.

Does What It Does, Easy To Use
Very simple device that I bought to help me stick to the "Pomodoro" time-management technique, which breaks your day into 25-minute work increments with 5-minute breaks. I love the way you can start the die-shaped timer just by turning it so the desired time-length is on the top.Although the 25- and 5-minute time lengths are why I bought it, it's curious that it has a 20-minute timer instead of a 15-minute timer (which seems more common), and I didn't see a "pause" function in the instructions, but I found if you turn the timer so that the screen is on the top, it DOES pause! That's handy for times when, for example, you're working but get a phone call, have to answer the door, or need a "bio break."

What does a guarantee or warranty mean these days
We own 4 of these little timers which have worked well to date. One recently went on the fritz exhausting battery power regardless of the state (on, off, lights, alarm etc) within 24 hrs. A behavior distinctly different from that of the other three which last for weeks with a single battery change. This unit has been in use for 100 days. Upon contacting the vendor, for a return/repair I was very politely told all requests for exchange/replacement must be within 30 days. Likewise Amazon's A-Z guarantee is for 90 days.Call me an anachronism if you wish but I remember well when a guarantee meant an assurance of the quality of or the length of use to be expected from a product offered for sale often with a promise of reimbursement or repair and that time was at minimum a year.I recently had the opportunity to call upon another vendor of an electronic item I had purchased. The product was 2 1/2 years in use when it malfunctioned. The vendor true to there word replaced the item immediately and had the humility to apologize for my inconvenience! Now it is true the product was advertised with a 5 year warranty where the product under review is not.Have we really gotten to the point in our disposable society that 90 days is all we can reasonably expect as the serviceable life of our purchases? I for one feel it is high time consumers like us called for change! For my part I will be contacting vendors in advance of my purchases to clarify what they are offering as a guarantee.

It just does not power on
I was gifted a Datexx Cube 2 weeks ago, an,d to the embarrassment of the gifter, it failed to power on. Yes, we put in batteries. Yes, we checked they were inserted correctly. The gifter took it back for a refund.I decided to purchase one (my back freezes painfully at work - I was going to use this to remind me to move). It failed to power. Yes, we put in batteries. Yes, we checked they were inserted correctly. Two failures cannot just be unfortunate events. It more likely is poor manufacture.

Used in my office to remind me for my free time
Even though this clock is mostly used in kitchen, I'm using it in my office to know when to take a pause of job. Many times it happens to me that I forgot how much time I spent on computer and taking time off from it is very important. And this digital clock helps me a lot.
