Professional Full Size Steamer for Clothes with Screen 65 Inches 1.3 Liter Capacity 1700 Watts Ironing, Fabric Steamer, Garment Steamer, Adjustable IS8440

My old steamer finally died after about 10 years. It was fine, and I would have been fine replacing it with something similar. I decided to do some research and settled on this Rowenta unit that cost 2x what my old one cost. I figured I use the steamer all the time and my last one lasted 10 years. It isn't hard to make up $50-$100 of value over 10 years. My expectations were much higher because of the price but it completely delivered. My clothes took about half as long to steam as before. I don't know what is actually different but it seems like this does higher quality steam or something. The steam just loosens things out better and quicker than my old unit did. The best part of this, and the feature really worth paying for IMO, is the screen. It makes is so easy to steam when you have a good support behind your garment. I really doubt I'll ever use an iron again now. It makes it faster and I don't think I could have even gotten my clothes this good with my old steamer.

I purchased the Rowenta IS8440 professional steamer about 18 months ago based on its strong reputation. I took excellent care of the unit: I used filtered water, descaled it regularly according to the manual, and kept the exterior clean. Recently, the unit completely stopped working. No steam is produced, and there is no sound from the pump or heating element. Since the 1-year warranty had just expired, I decided to inspect the interior to see if it was a simple fix. What I found was shocking: The main circuit board (PCB) was covered in rust and heavy limescale buildup. The internal design places sensitive electronics and wiring extremely close to the mechanical water components. It appears that internal moisture or a small leak (which shouldn't happen in a "Professional" grade unit) led to total oxidation of the connections. It is disappointing that a premium brand like Rowenta has such a vulnerable internal layout. If you buy this, be aware that even perfect maintenance might not save the electronics from internal corrosion over time. I am hoping Rowenta will stand by their product and offer a resolution for this clear design issue. Absolutely not recommended !

I am a serious Rowenta fan and this steamer did not disappoint. As a matter of fact, it is b better because it's lighter!

I love that it really removes the wrinkles from the clothes quickly, but it just leaks water from the bottom.

Disregard the manual's lint pad and glove accessories, not provided, they are not depicted on the box nor Amazon. While a screen is better than none, when used on wide garments it was crumble-some process of repositioning fabric section, hose and avoiding middle section of pole imprints. Easier than screen is to put 3 shirts on the hangers behind each other and use them as surface. The highest level of steam (equal to normal level of the old one) is needed for a cotton, half shirts had water marks (not damaged, just more wet, one has to let the garment air longer), the bonnet helps to eliminate it. The brush was not helping to speed up the process, to the contrary. The main functional design issue is the hose folding not properly: too high hose attachment plus the hose protection between base and hose is too rigid to bend- resulting in sharp 90 degree angle of hose when handling it, cutting steam output by 50%, yielding noise constantly as of running out of water. It is light, does the job, it is just not the fastest, nor upgrade. If your skin is sensitive to heat, be aware the handle gets hotter than older models. Use additional heat protection when using over 20 min.

I’m a professional fashion designer for 15+ years and have used many steamers in my work. This particular Rowenta steamer kind of works fine but not nearly as well as the nicer model from 5 years ago. The overall materials aren’t nearly as sturdy as they used to be. The hose is clunky and not easy to maneuver. The steamer head is way too large for detailed steaming of seams, collars, details, etc. The hose is also not very flexible or long enough. The base isn’t as large and balanced as the older model, so it feels like you could tip it over easily. The pressing screen included isn’t as solid and stable as the old model either. When you press against it, it feels like it’s going to fall backwards, even while working gently. I’d return it had they already not sent me one with missing parts that I had to wait 6 weeks to get credit for that return and wait for the new model. But sadly the Rowena brand via Amazon has gone very downhill. I’m a fashion designer and need to steam garments every single day. So I’m between a rock and a hard place. I need a really quality steamer, and Rowenta used to be really good! Used to be my favorite upright…but this model straight up sucks. If there was a higher quality available, I would greatly appreciate it if they sent it to me for all of the MANY INCONVENIENCES they’ve caused me, damaged garments, and delayed business. This model needs major improvement. Oh and the attachment pieces are useless. The screen isn’t stiff enough to truly press against, and the hanger to drape clothes off of FALLS OFF!!! Rowenta, please send me a nicer unit and I’ll tell the world all about it. But the model you sold me is the pits. Oh and the water reservoir is 1/2 the size of the original. Takes even longer to heat up than the last one too. And the steamer head is double the size of the last model which makes it impossible to do detailed work. Very very very disappointed

This thing is everything you want. Steams quickly; the steamer heads attach securely; steams well and pumps out steam; use it daily. Only issue: water runs out fast. Otherwise, it's a beast of a steamer. 5 stars.

I purchased the Rowenta Pro Style Care Garment Steamer (IS8440) in February 2024, expecting a premium product from a reputed brand. Initially, it worked well, but within 10 months, it completely stopped generating steam. Despite following all care instructions and using it sparingly, the steamer failed prematurely. For a product at this price point, I expected durability and reliability, but this was a letdown. To make matters worse, finding support or replacement options has been frustrating. I cannot recommend this steamer to anyone who values longevity in their purchases. Very disappointed with Rowenta.
