I bought this hose because the old hose I had would collapse when using the pool vacuum. This one was a lot stronger and did not collapse under the increased suction pressure.

The item so far looks good, once installed. Sturdiness?? That will have to wait. Hose looks very well make; with more wall thickness than most. Time, weather and OZONE will tell the tale. WORD OF CAUTION. The material thickness makes it hard to attach to friction fit plastic connectors. If you have 1.5 in connectors with multiple barbs, go out and get 1.5 in connectors with only a single barb at the end. Even with only that single barb, attachment will not be easy. A little bit of vasoline, much elbow grease, a large slip-joint pier and a soft rubber hammer may be needed to get it over the connector for two screw clamps to fit.

Great replacement for any 1.5" pool suction or discharge hose that are barbed and requires clamps my original where dry rotted cracking. Some I had bought at lows and Walmart where very soft and made for weak paper filter pumps. My Hayward pump would suck the hoses flat. These where a snug fit I used a heat gun to warm them and worked them on and clamped them. Probably wouldn't have needed clamps for the suction side it wasn't getting air but I clamped it anyway.

Although the hose appears strong, it takes all YOUR strength to install it over a barbed fitting. I ended up softening the hose ends in boiling water to be able to push the hose over a barbed fitting, and only 3/4 of the way on. The joints all leak, drip, drip, drip. I have used all kinds of clamps to stop the leaks including Amazon's SS T-Bolt Clamps (described below). All the pieces that came with it are exactly as expected. The hose itself is very sturdy and durable. I used it on the intake of an aftermarket pump first my above ground pool. It worked great. I accidently caused my pool vacuum to get struck to the bottom and this hose was just fine after but the hose running from it to the vacuum caved under the pressure differential. The metal clamps that work with it meet expectations though do make installation a little hard. Not sure how it could be much better without a much more expensive clamp.

I like that it is a sturdy hose. I did not like that it was application specific. When I tried to connect it to a fitting that is ribbed at the end, it would not go on. It was too small. When I fit it to a fitting that is smooth, it goes on with some effort. The outside of the hose is ribbed and the inside is smooth. If I had not cut it, I would return it.
