King Ultra Luxe Bamboo Mattress Pad Protector by Coop Home Goods
We just bought a new mattress, one of those with the gel, comfort foam, and base foam, totaling 12 inches. So I now needed a new mattress protector. I knew it needs to breath, and I wanted it waterproof. I bought a mattress pad (another brand) that advertised zippered bed bug protector and waterproof, had a terry top on it. First night slept hot, and I did not like the feel of the terry beneath my sheet. I went to every store in my city, and all the mattress pads were puffy. I wanted something that would not change the feel of my mattress. So I went to Amazon to do some review reading, and came across this Coop Home Goods, Ultra Luxe Bamboo one. Had a lot of positive reviews, so I ordered it. Right out of the bag, I liked the feel of the material, and it did not have that rubber smell. But, It did not look like it was going to fit on my king bed, so I had to try it on. Fit Perfect. Since I never use anything new without washing it first, I decided to stop by the kitchen sink on the way to the washing machine, and give it the waterproof test. I held the material, and my hubby poured a glass of water on it. I swished it around a bit and it did not leak through. I would hope if I spill on it, I would wipe it up immediately, but wanted to make sure it was somewhat resistant. Seems to be very resistant. See photo of water in a puddle on the pad. Next, I washed it according to instructions, soap, no bleach, no fabric softener. I did it on quick wash with low spin. It does hold water in the washing machine. I gave it a second low spin cycle. Then into the dryer on cool, fluff. I reached in and re arranged it a couple of times so it would not just roll up into a ball and kept it from being wrinkled. It was even softer and was not full static, and wrinkle free, when I removed it from the dryer. Put it on the bed. Nice, smooth, and flat. Plenty of side material to tuck in under the mattress. Did not shrink in the washing process. Slept on it 7 nights so far, and it does not scoot around on the bed under the sheets. It does not sleep hot, in my opinion. Totally not noticeable, but I feel my new foam mattress is now protected. I told two friends, they both placed an order. I bought mine through the seller Marlow's Mercantile. Came Prime, on time. I have received 2 emails from the Coop Home Goods, to follow up on the order, and offer care instructions, which was appreciated. So far so I am very pleased and thinking about trying the bed pillows that Coop Home Goods offers. I would love to buy this mattress pad in a twin XL, but that is not an option. Wonder why there is not a twin XL option? I think this is very high quality, just what I was looking for, and would not have recommended it to my friends if I did not think so.

Fits thick mattresses great!
I've had this for a few weeks. I did not test for water resistance. The waterproof lining is not noisy at all. I put it on a 12" queen with a 3" topper and it fit great with lots of room for a much deeper mattress and it doesn't shift. (The extra room on the sides didn't make it loose.) It's nice and snug. I was impressed by this since I have trouble getting some of my deep pocket sheets onto the bed securely. The foam topper makes you hot, but mattress cover is great because the bed isn't hot anymore. It washes and dries as you'd expect for a waterproof cover. It's very soft, but sheets don't get "stuck" on it. I like it a lot and am ordering one for another bed when I finish this review. Probably the best part is customer service. I contacted them about a shipping problem and they got back to me right away and were very eager to make it right.

Easily the best mattress protector in this price range!
I'm very happy with this mattress protector! The other mattress protectors I have tried in the past have been the terrycloth-style ones with plasticy bottoms that sleep hot, crinkle, crease, and bunch up beneath the sheets, slide off the mattress, and sound like I'm sleeping on plastic when I move around. I hated them all and ended up giving up on mattress protectors altogether for several years in favor of cushioned mattress pads. When I purchased a high-quality and expensive new mattress recently, I finally decided that it was time to relent and buy something to protect both the mattress and its 10-year warranty. I was not looking forward to it, based upon my poor experiences with waterproof protectors in the past, but the Coop mattress blows the terrycloth-style protectors completely out of the water! It is thick for a mattress protector (not as thick as a mattress PAD, of course, but there is no reason it should be. A protector is meant to protect your mattress, not to add padding), very soft, stretchy, and visually pleasing. It stays put very well and does NOT crinkle or crease beneath my sheets, or come loose. It also doesn't change the feel or reduce the comfort of my great-quality new mattress in the slightest. I have a thick mattress that requires deep-pocket sheets, and the Coop protector fits perfectly, but seems like it would also fit lower profile mattresses well, as the edges are strong and stretchy with a lot of grip. It also doesn't sleep hot or even warm, which was the claim I was most skeptical about. It doesn't actively cool me (it might offer active cooling if you're sleeping on memory foam, but my mattress is an innerspring, so I can't speak to that), but I have found it to be completely temperature-neutral, which suits my needs. The one thing I would say is that calling it "noiseless" is a bit of a stretch, but only a bit--I do hear a soft, susurrus rustle from the protector when I first get into bed, but it really is very subtle and not at all unpleasant. Once I am in bed, I haven't noticed any noise when I move around. I definitely recommend washing the protector per the included instructions before putting it to use--I have a feeling excessive heat could do damage to this protector, but a cold wash and a low-heat dryer cycle left it soft, fresh, crease-free, and smelling like nothing but clean laundry. I haven't had the opportunity to really put the waterproof qualities of this mattress protector to the test, but I have had some...shall we say...significant monthly feminine leakage, and I can happily say that not only did it protect the mattress completely, but I was able to spot clean most of it VERY easily (the fabric seems stain-resistant even though it isn't advertised as such), and the rest came out effortlessly in a cold wash. I really am just over the moon about this mattress protector. I can't imagine that I could find something better for the price point, and the fact that it is sold by a small family company just makes me even happier with my purchase. I highly recommend it!

Works for now!
This product is as described, and came packaged in a zipper-sealed bag (like the one pictured). I've had different mattress pads for my memory foam mattress (also bought on Amazon), and this one works the best so far, at cooling me down. I sleep very, very hot, and even with my window cracked, and an overhead fan on, I still managed to wake up sweaty. With this mattress pad I do sleep cooler. It's not like sleeping in Antartica, but it cools me down enough so I'm not nearly as restless during the night. I imagine this mattress pad would work even better with a memory gel mattress (which I hope to purchase in the near future). As far as it being waterproof, I have had no spills on it, and do not intend on pouring a glass of water on my bed to test it. The top of the mattress pad is soft, and you can tell that there is some sort of plastic sheet inside. The mattress pad does not make any outlandish noise (like other reviewers have stated). I have a Sensory Processing Disorder, which causes me to have hyper-sensitive hearing. I have noticed no difference in noise while trying to settle in for the night. This is a great pad for those of us on a budget, who need a little cooling-relief during the night.

Perfect protector for memory foam mattresses!
Perfect for my Layla hybrid mattress. If you’re looking for a mattress protector that protects without changing the feel of your memory foam mattress, this is it! My hybrid mattress can be flipped to a soft side or firm side. I use the soft side which is super comfy. So I don’t need a thick padded mattress pad. I just wanted a protector that’s soft and would provide protection without making my mattress feel like plastic or hot. This Coop mattress protector is everything that I wanted in a mattress protector. It is top quality. It doesn’t alter the feel of my layla hybrid mattress at all! It doesn’t sound nor feel like plastic and it doesn’t sleep hot. It’s soooo soft. It’s definitely waterproof. I’m so glad I found this on Amazon! Worth every penny. Update: just realized the mattress protector I received is a king size. I ordered a California king size. The packaging says California king but the item inside is labeled a king size. I was wondering why there was a little extra space. Not happy about that. Anyway, I ordered the correct size directly from the manufacturer. I’m returning the other one back to Amazon for a refund. Make sure you check the label on your mattress protector to make sure the size is correct.

High Quality Cover That Keeps Sleep Environment Cool!
I know there are less expensive options, but I wanted something to complement the bedding components I put together for a "cool" nights sleep. I purchased a 10" gel foam mattress that rated 10 out of 10 for breathability and for a cool sleep environment and topped it off with a 3" gel foam topper to add plushness. So I wanted a mattress cover that would protect my bed from moisture but one that wouldn't inhibit the breathability of my components. This cover touted it's ability to keep things cool while providing everything else I wanted with regard to protection from moisture and a cover that was soft and silent. I was a bit concerned it may be a bit loose because, even though I purchased a queen size, it says it's 15" in height yet my mattress and topper are only 13" in height. Well it fit beautifully regardless and hugged my mattress and topper nicely all the way around. So overall I'm very pleased with my purchase and I can attest to the fact it's use didn't impede my comfort with regard to temperature. It's a high quality cover that I expect will give years of service and highly recommend it to anyone who's concerned with keeping a cool sleep environment.

Saved my new mattress from a huge pee!
I bought this specifically because my previous mattress protector did not stop urine from my dog from reaching my mattress. Shes 11 and has some health issues and last week she peed on the bed for the first time in her life. We had a random branded fully encapsulated mattress protector that was supposedly 100% waterproof and it barely even slowed the urine down. So we had to buy a new mattress and I did some research about different types of mattress protection. This Coop one came up as being very highly rated for its ability to stop large amounts of liquid without being hot like other truly 100% waterproof ones that are basically just putting a plastic shower curtain on your mattress. I am so glad that I did choose this one because this morning my dog had another huge accident on the bed, a urine puddle that was approximately 36 inches by 24 inches on the comforter. As I was ripping the layers of the bedding off I was so scared that this huge amount of urine would be too much for the protector because it was cold so it had been there a while before I woke up. When I got down to the protector the urine that reached it was a smaller diameter but still a lot, maybe 18 inches by 12 inches. When I took that off and felt the mattress it was bone dry! Not a single drop of urine made its way to the mattress. It is currently in the washing machine so if I dont come back and edit this review then it survived being machine washed according to the tag instructions just fine. As for what the protector is actually like, the backing is sort of a thin rubber and the top is what feels like cotton. It is not hot to sleep on and fit my 14 inch mattress great, I think it would probably fit up to an 18 inch easily, maybe more. It was most expensive then a generic mattress protector but those $10-30 ones are actually 100% waterproof, just water resistant. The Coop one was able to protect against a huge Labrador Retriever pee that had been soaking in on the bed for a while. It feels really well made as well. Coop saved my brand new mattress!

Hypoallergenic mattress cover
On the con side. To be fair this mattress cover is being used on a king sized waterbed insert mattress which is smaller than a king size mattress would be; therefore, the cover is big all the way around and in height as well, so it does not fit snugly and bunches up under the fitted sheet (same problem with that) in the middle of the bed. We have a 70x82x13 insert mattress and all bed linens including the cover are at least 72x84 and higher than 13. A lot of excess all the way around. Makes sense that it bunches up and after considerable research, we were unable to find any linens that fits the insert more snugly. So each morning is spent tugging at both the cover and the sheet to pull excess to the sides. Not an easy feat in a hardside waterbed frame-which we chose to keep because of its quality. On the pro side. The cover washed nicely but took a while to dry on low setting before use, but no big deal. It stays cool and is comfortable to sleep on and spouse likes it because he doesn't sweat and feel uncomfortable since he remains in one position most of the night and has medical issues. Not sure how the coolness will feel when winter sets in after having a heated waterbed mattress. Spouse can longer climb in at out of that type of bed and loves the new "regular" mattress-easier to sit up on. I have serious allergies, so that is a plus with the hypoallergenic aspect. The cover seems to be of good quality and washed nicely. We waited before evaluating this cover to see if and how much we liked it after actually using it for a couple of weeks. I gave it three stars because of reasons stated and since I make the bed, it is a bit of a hassle each day tugging at the cover and fitted sheet to smooth them out and having the top sheet creep up during the night probably because the cover slips and pulls the sheets with it. If mattress inserts are sold, then it makes sense that bed linens would be made to accommodate their smaller sizes. Unfortunately, one size does not fit all (something I have NEVER agreed with even in clothing) and the "up to so many inches" in height is usually much higher. Waterbed frames are low and height is limited (ours is 13") therefore nothing fits snug. There are still many of us who have the frames and choose to keep them because of the wood quality and the money invested.

Good mattress protector
I was looking for a mattress protector that would offer "cooling" benefits as I am a hot sleeper. Its certainly cooler than my last protector but if your looking for a magic cure for hot sleep this isn't it. After a while it gets as hot as other protectors I've tried. I haven't spilled anything on it yet so can't rate the actual protection but thats not what I bought it for anyway. What I will say is that for an item supposedly in stock in Australia and was dispatched the next day for it to take 18 days to get to Metro Melbourne is a joke. In the end I can only guess they shipped it from the USA and then to Amazon Australia. How a USD$58 item gets converted to AUD$178 has got me stumped. Meh to Amazon Australia

Oooh la la! Great value!
My husband is going through a never-ending phase I call mano-pause that makes him roasting hot in bed (wink). But seriously, this mattress cover is a great price, fits our mattress well and so far, is keeping us cool. It is quite smooth (slippery) and when we have our microfiber sheets on the bed, it does seem to make them slide around a bit but doesn't make them slide off.

Purchased for hot-sleeping memory foam...
I purchased this item solely to cool down a memory foam mattress, and that's the only advertised feature I'll review. I'm in Montreal, and for those who don't check date stamps it's December. That is to say, it's pretty cold now. Average indoor house temps for us hover around 18-19 though we do spot heat specific rooms up to 21-22. At night it's generally around 18. That said, I was will sleeping hot on my 5-month old Silk+Snow queen mattress. I'd wake up some nights literally drenched with sweat. I'm a 5'8" 155lb guy who really never sweats much and sometimes forgets to wear deodorant because I don't need it. So clearly the mattress is the cause, and rather than return it and deal with all that I opted to attempt a quick-fix first, especially since I don't sleep nearly this hot on our guest bedroom Douglas memory foam. I purchased this cover since I absolutely love their pillows, both the standard and Eden versions and never sleep hot with either one. Reading reviews for various mattress covers didn't point to any single one being better than the other. Invariably for each one you'd see some people love it and say it worked, and some say it did nothing, or even made things worse. So I went with what I knew to be quality. Hint: Check Amazon.com reviews when there aren't enough on the Canadian site, if you didn't know... just scroll down. I also purchased, in conjunction, a Utopia microfiber fitted sheet since it was cheap and rated well. So I have not tested the pad on it's own, nor the sheet on it's own, and quite frankly I can't be bothered to do it now since... It worked. I'm two nights in, and will definitely update my review if something changes (I'll also update in the Summer when our room temps will regularly hit 25+ due to enormous windows and evening sun. But so far the difference has been enormous. I wouldn't say I'm sleeping COLD. It's not dramatic. It's just enough for me to comfortable. I fell asleep wearing a long-sleeve t-shirt (a major no-no previously!) and woke up in it, normally, in the morning. That's how I knew it worked. Not a chance I'd have managed that before. I was down to sleeping shirtless with a single blanket, or occasionally taking off my t-shirt in the middle of the night, removing the blanket, etc. I slept in a t-shirt with the comforter on (!!) the first night, and with a long-sleeve and blanket the second night. So it's definitely cooler. Whether it's the combo of items, or one more than the other I can't say, but they work. For a total of $65 I'm happy. I can try the mattress pad solo when I was the sheet. It's soft enough to sleep on, though not as cozy as their pillow covers which I love. It's thin and very easy to put on with deep sides. Perfect fit. The sheet was a little more fuss and still isn't even, but I'll save that for the sheet review. Anyway, if you're thinking of trying this to cool down a hot memory foam mattress, give it a go. Combine it with a microfiber (or better, tencel, etc.) sheet and give it a go. The worst that'll happen is it won't work and you can save it for a guest bed, or return it.
