Is it readable in sunlight, can it be used o. Aluminum pontoon boats ?

I can read mine fine in daylight and I've had mine for at least 8 years. The one I have is difficult to read with polarized sunglasses but the description says that the LCD is polarized and readable with sunglasses so they may have improved the screen. Use the sun cover when are not using the boat. LCD screens like these can get burnt by too much sun. As I said above I've had mine for years with no problems and the boat has lived in the water uncovered all summer for at least four of the eight seasons I've had it. I find that it reads well to about 100 to 125' in depth then gets spotty. I'm sure that bottom conditions make a difference. Mine is on a 18' runabout and it takes a beating. At higher speeds sometimes it will lose signal but that is probably cavitation on the hull. It says it can be used on aluminum hulls I can't help you there as mine is on fiberglass. Great little depth gauge.

How many amps does this draw?

The D10D draws 0.1 amps. That's why I like it! Rather than using my chart plotter when at anchor hogging battery power, you don't even know the Hawkeye is drawing power!

what diameter hole shall I cut in the hull for the thru hull transducer?

I agree with the previous answer. There is no need for a hole below the waterline for the transducer. However, you will need to make a 2 1/8 inch hole in a bulkhead or dash to mount the display. The transducer works well by reading through the hull or mounting outside the boat on the transom in contact with the water.

Does the transducer have holes on it so it can be screwed to the transom?

It comes with a bracket for mounting to the transom.
