Very pleased with this product. I have tried a large variety of hearing protection and these work extremely well and are very comfortable. I have nothing bad to say from my experience using them for about a year for causal shooting.

These are great muffs. I use them at the indoor range only. Mutes my 357 Magnum rounds perfectly. Once I started shooting these rounds, others at the range started looking up at me bc the noise was so loud, I think many of them wear wearing lower rated muffs and seemed startled. Not with these muffs, it really mutes the noise, while allowing other noises (e.g. talking) to be crystal clear. You can hear others loading their rounds, shells drop on the floor, conversations greatly. I'm glad I got these. They seem to seal well with eye protection. I wear them on top of my baseball cap, and the seem to have room left for larger heads. They fold up really nice and compact as well, not taking up much space in my range bag. The only thing I found was that the frequency tuning didn't seem to do much for me. I don't really notice a difference when I tune them either direction. Not exactly sure what it's supposed to be doing. Description could be a bit better I guess. I like the fact that there are two volume knobs, one on each side. In case one ear works different than another, or depending on who's shooting what on either side of you, you can then control one side independently. I am going to buy a second one for my wife.

I had some Walker's Game slim ear earmuffs, but I hated their mono audio. It made it so couldn't tell what direction sound was coming from. These Ultimate power muffs have stereo microphones (one over each ear), so you retain positional awareness. The volume goes loud enough that you use them doubled up with foam plugs. Each earcup's electronics are self contained, so there's no wire through the headband and less to break. I am using these with noisefighter's gel ear pads, which fit nicely. For the price these definitely beat the cheaper walker's and howard light's. They have better sound reduction ratings than the thinner howard leights or game ears, but I would still double up protection. They do have a few weak points though. Each earcup uses a single AAA battery, so battery life isn't great. I probably get around 5 hours of continual use out of them before the batteries in one or both ears dies. That's about a month's worth of range time for me at the moment, so not terrible, but my howard lights lasted for much longer. Compared to even the cheaper game ear slim, the volume knobs feel quite cheap and one of them popped off the first time I turned it like it wasn't properly installed (it slid back on easily). The frequency knobs also feel cheap and don't noticeably change the sound for me. They seem unnecessary. I have a feeling the knobs will be the first thing to fail. For the $50 I paid for these the quality is fine, but they were originally over $100, which I feel is too high for the level of quality. Finally, the ear cups are pretty large without offering significantly more sound reduction in my opinion, and will hit the stocks of rifles or shotguns slightly. Overall if you want stereo sound and more noise reduction than the slimmer earmuffs without spending a ton, these should fit the bill for average range use. If you're law enforcement or military and plan on banging them around and getting them wet, I would look elsewhere at more expensive options.

I’m impressed with these. With another shooter on my right, I turn up the volume in my right ear. I can hear him talk and it even AMPLIFIES what he’s saying, like “range is clear, go ahead.” When I shoot 5.56, it protects my hearing without changing my ability to hear conversation. There are separate controls for each side, so I only turn up the side where the other guy is. But bottom line, these things are great. Very effective protection for your hearing and completely allows you to hear other sound at the same time. I used to use regular hearing protection muffs but you hear nothing. These are far better. These also have a higher protection rating than others for a slightly higher price.

This Product Review is written by my husband who requested this Hearing Protection as a gift to replace "Peletor Sound-Trap" ear Muffs which he uses for shooting a 40 caliber Smith & Wesson M&P in an indoor range. The Walkers Game Ear has a reaction time of 0.02 seconds and a noise reduction rating of 27dB. The Sound Protection is better on the Walkers Game Ear then the Peletor Sound-Trap. To insert the batteries in the Sound-Trap the Sealing Rings that are attached to each side of the Ear Muff must be removed. Changing batteries in the Sound Trap is very difficult and it is very easy to damage the Sealing Rings when removing them. This is a very poor design for a battery compartment in an Ear Muff. The Walkers Game Ear has a Battery Compartment on each side of the Ear Muff with a cover that can be easily removed without the need of removing the Sealing Rings. The Walkers also has significantly better amplification for hearing speech; which is a necessity when listening to a Range Officer speak during Qualification. The Walker Ear Muffs are slightly larger then the Peletor Sound-Trap. The slightly larger size is NOT uncomfortable over several hours of shooting at the Gun Range. Overall, if you are Law Enforcement; Border Services; or an Armoured Guard employee, the Walkers Game Ear GWP-XPMB are highly recommended over the Peletor Sound-Trap when shooting your handgun or shotgun during Range Qualification.

Great cancellation, I use for indoor shooting especially. At my range the fan noise comes through as mild static over the speakers, but that's to be expected. Excellent product.
