got one of those little chinese made hibachi grills and it works as an alternative option.

I am trying to be balanced and fair considering the price point but my issues with this product disappoint me greatly.The package/box this product is inside is extremely thin corrugated board that is barely closed with cheap packing tape. As such, do not expect it to stay protected during shipment from the Amazon warehouse and it could easily damage other things in the Amazon box if there are any.The griddle size and design is good for the money. No issues with warping or the like after several seasoning cycles in the oven.It is only factory seasoned in the crudest sense of the word. The finish is extremely coarse and porous. and not fit for actual use and may have spots that are already corroding.It is absolutely repairable with soap, water, a scour pad, and some old fashioned shortening&oven cycles.It requires several cycles, especially since you can't really properly season both sides at once.Don't get me wrong, Lodge products (as an example) still need some initial seasoning work to get "right", but this product is nearly a "scour it raw and start seasoning it from scratch yourself" situation.The seasoning process seems technically easy to be done with quality and efficiency en masse in a manufacturing process. This vendor just didn't care.That said, what do you really expect for something in this budget price point and via Amazon? It's a heavy piece of iron and the shipping/handling is easily consuming most of the sticker price.

The media could not be loaded. It serves its purpose well, BUT difficult to clean. As seen in the video I posted, the appearance after first use was terrible. Before using it I did the seasoning - coat the surface with a high smoking point oil then put inside the oven for an hour and repeat this process three times. It worked well on the first use but I cannot easily scrape out the particles that build up during grilling, thus I cannot grill a second batch of meat. Come cleaning time (when it has cooled enough to handle) it was very difficult to remove the burnt particles and it looks like it already developed rust on major surface. Even the other side (smooth surface) where I did not use, it also have rust. I tried to season again before storing it but it looks like it won’t return to its original state. The last photo shows that more rust was developed. I won’t use this anymore as I don’t want to eat the food that has been in contact with rust.

We bought this because it fit the griddle burner if our stove. It was not seasoned but the instructions were easy to follow. We use it all the time. Good value.

Very easy to cook my pancakes in the morning. Did not try the grill side as yet, but expect it to be great for hamburgers.

So I got this cast iron griddle to do Kabobs on our center burner. It says it is pre-seasoned. More like poorly powder coated. It it’s smooth, more like a grainy texture. It also rusted immediately after being out of the box only 2 days.I have rubbed it t down with oil to stop the rusting, and the texture promptly shredded the paper towel I was using.I am going to try cooking on it before I decide if I am going to keep it... but it isn't looking good.Save yourself the hassel, spend the money for a Lodge product instead.
