Ultra-Fab Products 35-946226 Round Bar Weight Distribution Hitch - 1000 lb. Capacity

This hitch makes me a bit nervous the way it is bolting together right now. I haven't put in a weight distribution hitch before so maybe I don't know for sure if this is a problem or not. I would have expected the 'U' part of the hitch that bolts up the shank to be a 'U' but it more looks like a this '|_/' so I have a small gap on one side. If I tighten up the bolts it seems to hold fine so I not sure if this is OK? There is a bit of a gap still? I also wanted to put on a 2" ball and the adapter piece was bent out of shape. I lucky was able to stick it into a vice and able to fix it. I tried contacting ultra fab and Amazon about getting a replacement part for the hitch since it be a PITA to send it all back for just that little part and didn't get a response. I just not sure if I should return the item if it is defective or if the funny shape 'U' on hitch part is nothing to worry about. If anyone can give me a reason to change my mind on my review I am always open.UPDATE: Amazon contacted me and offered number of options and I decided to replace it hoping I just got a dud. Granted it was a PITA to send the old one back. So got my new one and it I think its a little better 'U' shape than the last one but I still used a shim on it to be safe. The new one the box was a bit busted up and lucky I didn't lose any parts that I am aware of always and the hitch ball shim was not damaged this time. I haven't hooked it up to the trailer yet so I hope that part goes without too many more problems.

This is a fantastic hitch with all of the strength and adjustments of all the more expensive hitches at half the price. The customer who said that the bars kept moving up no matter how much he tightened the bolts simple did not have the big angle adjusting set screw tighten to keep it in place or the shim washers in place. Read the instructions. Glad I didn't spend the extra money for a more expensive one. This one is as good as them.

I have a 3500lb travel trailer with a 300 lb tongue weight and this distribution hitch makes it feel like a whole new rig! It's amazing! I would highly recommend this to anyone with a small/medium trailer! A MUST HAVE!

The system is nice minus the hook-up brackets. One of the chain hooks snapped the third time I used the system. And before that both of the bolts the hold the brackets in place bent on me. The hitch portion, round bars, and chains are of good quality though. Not a bad system just be careful of the hook-up area. System is being used on a 7k car trailer usually only loaded to about 5.5k pounds.

Great product. I was hesitant because of the lack of information, but for the price, it is much more effective than anything else I've seen on the market. I've been using it about 6 months and it handles my 7000 lb trailer without problem. Note ultrafabs website, the 1000 lbs is tongue weight not trailer weight. I'm very glad I took a chance and picked this up!

We have a 20 foot camper that this was bought for. It took a little bit of work to get it on and stable but it now works beautifully.
