Paper holders don't have blades...They cut by ripping the paper at a diagonal angle.
I was kind of hoping this would be blue as the photo shows as it was for my art studio and I just liked that look. It's not, but it works well so function over color--I'm good with it.A paper roll cutter is not like scissors. The ability for it to cut is not due to a sharp blade,(I was an art major and was an art teacher: that meant daily use of personal and commercial paper holders and cutters) it is due to how the user tears the paper. In that I mean, you do not tear it sideways...you pull it up and at an angle towards you from under the edge (no paper cutters for rolls actually have sharp blades so it won't have a blade). The resistance against the metal part causes the cut. And this one never fails. It creates perfectly straight cuts for me each time. And I use it several times a day in my shipping department.I love the size as it takes up my counter area, sideways, so I can put it at the edge of my counter and have it take up little room.Having been an art teacher years ago, and having owned an art studio, I have had to use a paper roll cutter again and and again on a daily basis. This is a nice one, works well, and I'm happy with the purchase.

Husband and son put it up in a child's playroom and it works beautifully. No problem with getting the paper to tear ...
For those who wonder if this will hang on a wall...yes it will. Husband and son put it up in a child's playroom and it works beautifully. No problem withgetting the paper to tear perfectly either which some folks complained about. We actually like that the cutting edge is not too sharp because it is in a kid's area...just follow the directions given by a lady/teacher in the comment section! The men used lag bolts (2"). They mounted a 1 x 8 on the wall anchored to the studs with 2" lag bolts. Then they mounted the Bulman onto the 1 x 8 with 2" lag bolts. It is quite sturdy and the paper rolls smoothly. We expect to get years of good times from this purchase!!

Soooo worth the money! It will save you precious time and keep you organized.
Love it!I received NO compensation for this fair and honest review.Ordered on the 19th.Arrived on the 21st.Adequately packaged.Comes with instructions.Very easy to figure out.The four little rubber feet are a bit tough to get in and keep them in, but after a few minutes I got them to stay. I do not intend on moving my paper cutter, but I expect the feet will fall out again when I have to change the paper roll. All in all, having this as part of my packing station is going to make my shipping process organized and efficient.I'm extremely pleased with this purchase and would definitely recommend it.It does exactly what is intended and stays put when you use it - there is no moving around. With paper in it, it's a heavy unit and won't move.I just got it so I'm not at the tail end of a roll. The unit ways less than 5 pounds on its own, but I still don't think it will shift much (if at all) at the tail end of a roll.

Does what it is supposed to...nothing too fancy.
It is a very simply system that holds a big roll of paper and used a beveled edge (not sharp) to cut your paper. IF you pull on the paper at the right angle it will give you a straight edge and cut easily. If you are not, then you will get some bad cuts. It does not take much practice or thought to get a good cut. I have gone through 3 rolls of paper with this cutter and it still works like a charm.

Seriously the greatest thing I ever bought
Seriously the greatest thing I ever bought.Nothing more soothing than tearing kraft paper with this.No more fighting with a massive roll and poorly tearing the kraft paper by hand.By the way, it does take some practice and rhythm to rip the paper perfectly each time.Personally, I put one hand on the roll to keep it from spinning, then tear from left to right in a upward motion.

Rounded cutting edge so not sure how you'd get a good, clean cut.
It also came with a manufacturer's defect in the form of a big gash along the cutting edge. And some of the vertical leg edges were sharp and jagged (kind of backwards from the rounded cutting edge). Pretty unsafe for sure. Had to get a refund and not impressed enough with it to purchase it again.

Excellent Product, Very Well Made
I recently purchased this as a gift for my father. We process a large amount of our own wild game and domestically raised meat (approx. 6-8 animals per year), so I knew it would be put to good use. Upon immediate inspection of the product I was quite pleased with the overall quality. The all steel construction is very sturdy and not cheap or flimsy at all. The spring mechanism is very solid and puts an adequate amount of good tension on the arm that holds the paper and acts as the cutting surface when you are tearing sheets of paper off. The cutting surface of the arm is not sharp at all. so there is no concern of cutting one's self or having a child handle it and cut themselves. The rubber feet were very easy to insert and so far have displayed no indication of trying to pop out. I am glad that the rubber feet were included, thus eliminating the concern of possibly scratching a wooden table, counter or other surface.Honestly the 24" size is quite large, especially for someone who is not utilizing commercial size packing paper. That is not a complaint about the product, simply an observation. We have been running 18" rolls on it because that is what we had already purchased and were previously using to tear by hand. Even with the smaller size there is no issue of the roll constantly shifting or making it difficult to tear the paper. If someone did run into an issue with this for some reason, it would be extremely easy to slip on a rubber gasket, such as a garden hose gasket or something slightly larger, and position it to keep the paper roll in place.Overall the product seems extremely well made and I see no reason why it will not last us many years. We have already processed a bison and an elk using this stand and it performed flawlessly.

Traps the Butcher Paper and Cuts it Effortlessly
This works great. Once the butcher paper is on the dispenser it rolls off perfectly. The paper, even though it is a heavy circular object, doesn't keep rolling after the paper is pulled off. The metal cutter isn't sharp enough to cut a person adjusting it, but it is just fine for cutting the paper. It holds the paper in place as it comes off the roll and cuts it straight and true. Long pieces or short, the Bulman cuts the paper really well.Great product. Heavy duty metal. Should last forever.AD2
