ABSOLUTELY WORTH THE MONEY, IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR A SPEAKER BUY THIS!
THIS THING IS RIDICULOUSLY LOUD!!! It also isn't tinny like I expected. It isn't exactly full of bass or the best speaker ever, but holy moly, this thing does the job. OK, I'm not a fanboy for anything, but I rarely if ever come across a product that actually does what I purchase it to do. Every other desktop or portable speaker I've ever purchased was clearly made of junk and useless bits. They never work like you expect, even when you spend upwards of $50 for a portable speaker. So, I'm about to gush a bit about this Connectland one, deal with it. For a cheap speaker it is LOUD, and the sound is full. I've listened to MLB announcers, and just a few moments ago listened to some varied styles of music. This speaker finds its comfort level in the 50%-65% of full volume range(on the PC of course, there is no adjustment knob or slider on the speaker) . Over 70% of full volume the sound washes out a bit but keeps its fidelity all the way up to 100%. I'm listening to Lamb of God (who remembers 10 years ago eh?) as I type this and while it isn't full and perfectly clean, it is leagues, LEAGUES better than even the desktop set of CA and Logitech speakers I've blown through in the last few years. For someone using a desktop, these would be useful if you don't have the space for a more expensive set, but for the cost you absolutely can't go wrong with these. I'm right now going to order another one to keep in my laptop bag to travel with. To address the main issue in other reviews, yes the way the speakers "sit" on top of the monitor make it fall off onto the keyboard if you tilt the screen past 90° toward you. If the screen is leaning back it sits perfectly. An easy fix, you could just take a couple of the mid to large sized binder clips and clip the thing to your screen. Not optimal I know, but you're also not shelling out the big bucks for a high end speaker here. In regard to the speaker and primarily the SUPER BRIGHT LIGHT BURIED IN THE FRONT OF THE SPEAKER I'm just going to set the speaker behind or under my laptop and let the sound amplify a bit in the room. It's a bit more muffled, but I don't have the bright light in my face and the sound is already so loud that it creates a bit of a surround feel. Seriously, it sounds great. Lastly, if you're the kind to use the cheap style desktop speakers with a cheap subwoofer and two dinky desktop cans, throw those away. Buy this, an audio jack splitter, and a USB hub, and put one on either side. No, they won't be true stereo (unless you buy an R/L splitting jack, wink wink) but the sound is absolutely worth it. All in all, this is absolutely worth the $11 or so I paid for it, and while on a budget, I'm going to buy another right now to ensure I always have one available. Buy this. You won't regret it. It's awesome. I'm going to buy another one ASAP!

Pretty good overall, but really only for laptops
Sound is better than I was expecting. Only problem is, they won't attach to my curved desktop monitor or any edge of my desk in a way that will hold up. I just can't figure out a good way to mount it. Really mostly laptop only.

Nice, loud and clear voices -- not boomy. Makes voice tracks intelligible.
Nice, loud and clear voices -- not boomy. Makes voice tracks intelligible. This is designed to rest on top of a laptop's screen -- mostly to keep it out of the way. If you need to securely mount this -- use a strip of blue masking tape on it's flip-out mounting brace and tape it to the back of the laptop's screen. Works so well that I've purchased another for my other laptops.

Works for me, but has flaws
The good: * The sound quality seems good to this non-audiophile. I don't have very discerning tastes in audio, but the speaker is plenty loud, isn't crunchy, seems to handle a large range of frequencies including some decent bass. * I love that this is available in 3.5mm jack instead of just a USB. I use it with an audio switcher box so that I can quickly swap between headphones and speakers without messing around with pairing or cables or changing settings on my PC. * I like the form factor. The speaker is very petite (without sacrificing volume) and takes up almost no space. The little clip on the back is versatile, and I actually ended up positioning the speaker on the back lip of my desk instead of on top of my monitor. The bad: * The LED cannot be disabled!!! It is a bright blue LED and it is inside of the speaker, underneath the grille, so you can't even slap a piece of tape over it! I did slap a piece of tape over it, but light bleeds out the sides because the grille is raised a few millimeters above the surface where the LED is installed. The chassis for this speaker appears to be welded plastic, no user-serviceable screws or anything, so you can't take it apart to snip the LED off either! I eventually ended up painstakingly poking a tiny paintbrush into all of the speaker grille holes to paint over the LED with black acrylic paint. Which works perfectly and is barely visible on the speaker (certainly not noticeable unless you know it's there.) * This speaker is powered via USB, and you have to trust to the gods whether or not you will get humming/buzzing or not. I wish they had built power isolation into the speakers/USB plug. If I plug the USB into a power strip with a USB port, the speaker works perfectly while audio is playing, but when the audio input is switched to a different device (no input on the jack for these speakers), I get gain noise, like from an amplifier. If I plug the USB into my computer directly, I get no noise when there is no input on the jack, but a high pitched humming while the speaker is on. If I plug the USB into a USB hub that is plugged into my computer, I get the same effect but much quieter. EVERYTHING in this paragraph is not consistent, and the effect may disappear at any given time, but especially if you have rearranged your setup or the power has gone out or you've plugged something else in. So it's very difficult to troubleshoot. Twice I thought I had fixed the problem with some new combination of USB hubs and extension cables, but it only stayed fixed for a day and the humming came back when I turned on my computer the next morning. To solve this issue, purchase a "usb isolator" and plug the USB power plug into that. I was able to get away with the cheapest one I could find for $20 and the humming appears to be fixed, but most are more expensive. So if you don't like noise in your signal, these speakers might not be the deal you think they are. Unless you get lucky with the electricity spirits in your setup. * The cord is a bit short. It's not ridiculously short, but with the speaker in the center of my desk and the computer on the side of the desk, the cable (managed in a plain L shape) juuuust reaches exactly. If you are doing anything fancy in your cable management, you will need extension cables.

Spend your money elsewhere
This review is for the $10 laptop speaker. IT SUCKS. Please don't waste your hard earned money on this item. Being a $10 speaker I did not expect very much from it and I was still disappointed. First, the mounting system blows. Its just an arm on the back that swings down to press the back of the laptop and two little lips to grab the front of the screen... problem being, if you tilt your laptop lid forward just a bit too much the speaker comes crashing down on your keyboard. Next, the sound is terrible. Very treble-y and painful to listen to (honestly, its unpleasant to the ears). Finally, THERE'S A BLINDING BLUE LED ON THE FRONT. No where in the add does it mention this LED and its under the speaker grill so tape won't cover it easily. Its VERY BRIGHT and as you can imagine, very distracting too. To top it all off the unit I received wasn't even branded the same as the one in the picture. I get these are mass produced and many names are stamped on them for different distributors but come on. Again, please don't waste your hard earned money on this speaker. It's not worth $10.

This speaker works perfectly. It is advertised as a USB powered speaker but still requires to be plugged into a headphone jack as well. The sound is great, and the volume is easily adjusted from the source.

Works well, simple to use

Very good, compact speaker. Only issues(minor ones) that I have are, the sound is more on the base side and with it sitting on top of the laptop screen, it is quite loose. Prone to falling off. Installed velcro in front and in back to secure it in place.

Works very clear, I placed some tape over the obnoxious blue light. My lap top has a rounded lid so I keep it at the front. Quite happy with it and if needed would purchase again
