So much better than my old centrifugal juicer!
A few years ago on a health kick I bought a centrifugal juicer, but ended up getting rid of it because I was appalled at the small amount of juice extracted and how much juice was left in the pulp it discarded.I then learned about masticating juicers and how they're supposed to do a better extracting job, and how their slow speed prevents heating up and degrading nutrients -- at least according to health fanatics, and who am I to argue: seems to work quite well for them, even if their science is bogus. Only problem, they take up a lot of space and they're expensive.I was curious to test this Homever masticating juicer to see if it really was an improvement.Setting up is fairly easy, although the non-mechanically inclined may have trouble fitting the sieve inside the bowl; it gets easy after a few times.Put the pulp and juice receptacles under each spout (there are two receptacles provided, or you can use your own), switch it on, and push your fruits and veggies down the chute... Juice time!So far I have juiced carrots, kale, cucumber, ginger, apple, lime and banana -- tasted great, and I am amazed by how dry the pulp is, which I suppose shows what a good job it's doing. So, A+ when it comes to juice extraction.Of course, cleaning is a lot less exciting. On the bright side, it's not TOO hard to clean; I used the brush supplied to clean the mesh strainer, and most of the parts are easy to disassemble and clean, although pulp tends to get trapped in a few spots, especially the pulp output port at the bottom of the bowl. Again, once you've done this a couple of times, it's a piece of cake; cleaning it takes no more than a couple of minutes. One thing I didn't like: a silicone wiper blade tends to get dislodged, and you have to make sure it's seated properly before operating the juicer.I guess my biggest gripe with it is now I look at all this dry pulp full of fiber goodness and I wonder if maybe I should find a palatable way to eat it...PROS------- Quiet- Vertical setup takes up very little counter space- Extremely efficient juice extraction- Fast- Fairly easy to cleanCONS-------- Wiper blades can get dislodged when disassembling for cleaning- Chute is very narrow (doesn't fit a large carrot)In conclusion... this juicer does an amazing job. It does require a minimum of care when disassembling for cleaning, but overall, it's well made and seems durable. Recommended.

Good, Strong (but Difficult Disassembling)
This extracts a lot of juice and the pulp was pretty dry. I used three meduim carrots, a whole stalk of celery with one small beet cut up and a cut up meduim apple. The carrots went down fairly easy as did the celery and beets. The apple had a tendancy to need a little light push of the stick and took longer. There was hardly any foam at the end. The extra base for the top really isn't necessary. The noise wasn't silent but not overwhelming. It sounded a bit horrific when the veggies and fruit went through to be extracted but it was slightly less noisy running inbetween. The pulp came out like little squares of hay. The hard part was assembly and disassembly. When I first took it out of the box to wash, it was a little difficult to disassemble, even harder to put back together, but even more difficult to take apart after juicing. I had to pull the unit off and drench it with water to get it to loosen so I could take it apart. The cleaning brush did not help much with the lower rim of the screen (pictured) or the shoot (also pictured). Rinsing the other parts was easy even though there are a lot of parts to wash. I posted pictures of the juice after I drank a little, the pulp in the container and the pulp container after dumping (no moisture or wetness remained). Also a picture of the pulp left in the juicer that I was struggling to disassemble.

Very Decent Masticating Juicer at this price point. Difficult cleaning.
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. I wasn't expecting a masterpiece at this price point but was surprised that it actually is pretty good. It doesn't compare to the Omega Masticating Juicer that I also own, but that juicer is also more than four times the price of this HomeOver. The instructions are somewhat lacking, and very basic. There is also an error on Page 4 of the English portion where there is a diagram of each of the components of the juicer. Unfortunately, the page is in Italian, so reliance on the drawings alone is what you are left with, and identification of those components in English is not found in the Manual.Operation of the juicer is relatively simple, and at a decent sound level without overpowering your ears. The chute for sending items to be juiced is rather small, so it is necessary to cut pieces small enough to fit in the chute.Pulp extraction is very good, and the pulp is very dry. The juice spout works well.On the first run, I juiced two Fuji Apples and it extracted a good amount of juice with very little pulp. Great!Cleaning the unit is a pain. It breaks down into a number of components that all need to be cleaned. A toothbrush-style cleaning tool is included. The most difficult area to clean is the pulp extraction chute where some pulp that was not ejected has to be cleaned out, and there is no easy method to do that. It takes some work. All the components need to be dry before reassembling for storage. All in all, this is decent and pretty effective masticating juicer that is very reasonably priced. It won't compete against top-of-the-line juicers, but for the price it doesn't get much better than this. If this is your budget for a juicer, you are not likely to be sorry for purchasing! Bon Appetit, and Good Health!
