Just bob on
I can never be arsed writing reviews. I read em and that's it. However, this razor has pushed my into the world of reviews. I treated myself to this to go with my other treat, a Amazon double edge blades (100 pack). I love both. Have shaved after a shower (stubble warm) and colder. Both times my shave was bob on. No nicks, cuts etc. Just smoothness. I'm chuffed with both

Edwin Jagger De89bl Review!
As someone who is new to the traditional way of shaving i struggled for a good few days to research every aspect from brushes, creams, soaps, razors and blades. I finally settled on this razor as it was rated highly by the vast majority of people on here with the added bonus that it came with 5 derby extra blades to start you off. The quality of this product is simply stunning, with the chrome finish being as good as you're every going to see on any object, everything lines up correctly and fits together perfectly... please note if you didn't already know that this is a three piece razor and the handle part simply unscrews from the top. Having received it yesterday i had my first shave with it this morning using one of the enclosed derby extra blades and are very please to report how good a shave it really is.Having been use to multi-blade cartridge razors in the past which would quickly dull and tug on hair and generally be unpleasant to use, with this i had no issues. Hair simply glided off in one smooth stroke and the safety bar is fixed in a decent position meaning cutting yourself is highly unlikely unless you do something reckless or try to shave to quickly. Small strokes are best i found and the included derby extra blades appear to be very sharp yet forgiving (i will place an update at the bottom regarding how many shaves the blade lasts). As for cleaning it is very straight forward, simply rinse under the tap and when you've finished then undo the razor and pat everything dry with some toilet roll to keep everything clean. I cannot state how well made this razor is and how good it feels with it being the right weight and the handle is spot on length wise. The shaving cream i bought at the same time as this razor is Proraso Shaving Cream Tube (150ml)... which i can fully recommend to you as it cools your skin and provides a nice slick shave, also smells pretty good too.As for the razor...PROS: Gives a very close yet comfortable shave, hardly any irritation compared to cartridge razors, no tugging on hair, VERY WELL MADE IN ENGLAND (so supports jobs here at home), chrome finish is as good as I've ever seen!!CONS: As it's a three piece razor it is slightly more hassle putting it together than a two piece razor but i'm just nit picking!VERDICT: After watching YouTube videos and numerous reviews it became clear very quickly that this was one of the top "double edge" safety razors on the market. It looks great and gives a far better shave than any cartridge razor I've used although the blades play some part in that... i intend to try other blades when the 5 included run out, but for now i couldn't be happier with these derby extra blades which as i said earlier are sharp yet forgiving on your skin. The razor comes well wrapped with the blades inside a small cardboard box.As for the razor and the whole package i can FULLY RECOMMEND it to you. I will be more than happy to answer questions about this product so leave a comment and i'll get back to you a.s.a.p!UPDATE: The included blades (Derby Extra DE blades) lasted around 5 shaves for me before i had issues with it tugging hair

Take the plunge!.. story of a new DE wet shaving convert
Even though there are many 5 star reviews about Edwin Jagger De89bl chrome, I would like to add my "2 cents".Well, I've been using cartridge 2/3/5 blade system since my first shave (13-15 years ago). Back then, I have seen many of my friends, using double edge shaving blades, showing the nicks on their neck and I decided it was not for me.I rationalized that the higher priced cartridge system was worth the extra bucks.Over the years, the razor burns made shaving a painful experience and I tried electric shavers..aargh!!.. even the more expensive ones made my skin feel raw.A year back I jumped into the DE shaving bandwagon with a "regular" DE razor. It made my skin really dry(shaving soap is the culprit) and rough and I managed to get a nick or two and gave up after a week. In the meantime, I always tried to avoid shaving...it was more of once a week ritual or tried trimmers. My wife was always complaining about that. After going through a few websites and youtube videos and thanks to all the reviews on amazon, I took the plunge again with Edwin Jagger. The difference:2 days prior to getting this Edwin Jagger DE razor, I used the "regular" DE razor(slightly longer handle) and did feel discomfort and invisible nicks. So when this shiny, beautiful,well-balanced, instrument arrived I definitely could feel the difference. There was virtually no irritation. Some of you reading this may be wondering, after all it's the blades sharpness that can make a difference nothing in the DE razor can improve shaving. But what I realized was, with my technique being more or less the same with both DE razors, the short and heavy handle of Edwin Jagger exerts less force on your face. The key to DE shaving is not to apply force which makes the blade to sink into the skin. The technique should always aim to keep the angle at 30 degrees and drag it across the face(force is tangential) and cut the hair. And this carefully balanced and short handled EJ makes accidental finger muscle pressure variations less forceful on the face and saves you from nicks. The jawline is still a tricky area for me and I suggest more caution (check youtube).Additional Accessories:Using DE shaving razor doesn't mean we have to use the soap and brush. The modern advanced hydrating foaming gels in can (I use Nivea Sensitive skin Gel and Old Bond Street- Sandalwood alternately) can work effectively and is a matter of personal choice. So if you are getting into DE wet shave, you can invest in a step by step manner. Get the EJ DE razor, before you get your brush and shaving soap. Based on how it works out for you, go for the other stuff.Gillette Irritation defense post shave balm is also helpful to complete your shaving routine.Anyway, with right technique and good razor like EJ, irritation free shaving is possible. I am enjoying my shaves now and actually looking forward to my next one!

Useless!
Tried two types of blades, Wilkinson sword & Feather, results in both cases unacceptable. I appreciate people have different face shapes and whisker strength, but for me, this razor, a complete waste of money.
