Moleskine Classic Notebook, Hard Cover, Pocket (3.5" x 5.5") Squared/Grid, Black, 192 Pages

Perfect for a skipper or mate’s log. I needed a log that could take some abuse without falling apart. I keep it in my sailing duffle, which gets thrown up on the dock, stuffed in lockers, left in the car trunk, etc. I had used square-ruled moleskines before as engineering notebooks. They have several features that make them better than any notebook that I have been able to find in office supply stores, book stores, or stationers. They are archival quality with sewn-in acid free pages and a sturdy cover. It opens nearly flat on desk for ease of writing and drawing. The sewn-in fabric bookmark makes it easy to open to your desired place without having to keep up with a paper bookmark. The elastic band that holds the book closed when not in use is also firmly attached – no rubber band to lose. I keep my ASA card in the handy pocket attached to the inside back cover. The square-ruled pages make it easier for me to sketch things such as tricky channels, shorelines, or ideas for sailing gizmos.

Great little book. I use it to keep track of the diffrerent types of Zentangles. An idea that came via Linda Farmer and it worked out really well. Just as she said it would. The squared pages has made it easier to dissect the Zentangles. Plus I love the cute factor because it's tiny (3.5 x 5.5). Easy to slip into a purse. Some people might fill the pages a lot faster than I have. And if you are a person who Zentangles continuously you might want a larger size. Linda said she filled hers quickly and decided to move to a larger (5 x 8 1/4 inch.) one. I love the tiny size. I might move to a larger size later but right now this works great for me. I personally think this is a great try me size.

I've bought so many of these! I love them. The quality is amazing, they withstand so much wear and tear. The paper inside nice. I've never used any of those gel pens in them, but the same paper is in the larger size and I paint and doodle and glue and all kinds of stuff in that thing. I love the pocket in the back. I keep little notes in it and stamps! I lost a book one time and really upset to never get it back. Now I keep my address and phone number in the front along with how much reward I'll give (there's a blank space for a reward, Moleskin knows it's important) and I also note that there are stamps in the back so the finder won't have to pay anything for shipping it to me. So long as they lend a return address, I shall send them a reward! Moleskin is the best. Worth every penny. I use the little ones for jotting down my favorite quotes and memories I have.

I got this to keep track of ideas and thoughts. This is my first Moleskine product, but won't be my last. Pros - The book is well made, and had a cool little pocket with info and details on who quality checked the book I own incase there is an issue with it. It fits in my shirt pocket nicely, and even the binding on the spine is just loose enough that I can slip the clip of my pen through it for a clean grab and go form factor. Cons - it is small, and a little hard to write in because I can't rest my hand easily on the pages while writing. I actually find writing on the backs of the pages to be more comfortable. If I was doing more than doodles or quick notes I would want to move up to the bigger size, but for the use I have it is a nice little addition to my pocket clutter.

For years, I have carried a small stack of 3 x 5 index cards in my shirt pocket for quick note taking. From time to time, I would experiment with using various notebooks, but never found one that quite fit my needs - until the Mokeskine. This model fits in my shirt pocket, each page provides adequate writing area, the binding is just about right for allowing the pages to lie almost flat and the squares are very helpful for quick sketches. While I have electronic devices I can use for note taking, sometimes nothing beats pen and paper. The Moleskine makes it simple to capture your thoughts on the run. Jerry

I'm hooked. How did I ever keep track of notes, freelance work, conversations, ideation or anything else without this style of ever present journal? Pocket sized, which allows me to keep it with me even when I eschew a bag. I'm a big list maker and fan of Getting Things Done, so this allows you to log ideas or lists on the spot. No batteries required! The grid is neatly and consistently printed on every page. Having grown up in a European school, the style is very nostalgic to my "quadrillé" notebooks, which is enjoyable. The ribbon pagesaver is very handy and the elastic keeps it reliably closed. Already bought a second one to have on deck as my current one is about full.

I've been using these to keep a personal journal and they are just right sized for short-to-medium length notes, ideas, short poems, etc. Sometimes you look at an 8"x 11" journal and it just takes up a lot of space. This size doesn't.

I've been using Moleskine notebooks for years and have loved them. Yes, the paper is thinner, but I don't mind the ghosting. I've always loved the quality and the design which is why it pains me to leave this review. It seems that Moleskine has cheapened their design. No longer is there a little pamphlet with their manifesto - now it's printed on the front and back end pages. Somewhat of an annoyance, but I can cover that up with a bit of scrap paper. Unfortunately, they've also darkened the grid lines which makes these new journals I purchased borderline unusable (see image). The grid competes with my writing and I can't use bolder ink because then it will bleed through the back. My only option it seems is to use one side of the page or instead use these as scrap journals and not write in them at all. For a $15-20 journal (depending on what day you are buying them, it seems) I expect more. I am so sad to say I'm going to be on the hunt for new journals because the several I just purchased aren't up to the quality standard I'm used to from Moleskine. I hope Moleskine fixes this in the future!

A little smaller than I was expecting but you know the quality will always be amazing when ordering moleskine. A great product with amazing quality and heritage.

My first moleskine. Looks well made, and the page marker is going to be useful. I've put it in a letter cover, so it's going to last a long time. The hard cover makes it a high quality product.
