I bought 3
These were at such an unbeatable price when I ordered, that I decided to buy 3 as the reviews were good. I haven't been disappointed either! I do a lot of amateur photo and video, so I am constantly loading SDHC cards into my PC to transfer files. These card readers are fast and very reliable. I haven't had a single issue with them at all and they will even serve as a handy external USB "micro-hard-drive" one day when large capacity SDHC cards fall in price and I have upgraded. Update 07-09-2010: Well, the party couldn't last that long. One of the readers that I had bought has now mysteriously failed. It wasn't dropped or misused in any way, it just ceased to read any cards. I am now wondering about the quality of these. Hopefully it was just a freak occurance.

Card reader worked fine
My father-in-law is using an older computer with a built in SD card reader in the front panel. Upon buying a new digital SLR camera, he found that the computer would not recognize the 4Gb Class 6 card. I work as an I.T. Security Administrator, so I figured that I could find the problem in just a few minutes. After installing new drivers to the built in SD slot, we still had no card recognition. So after googling the specific computer model and any related SD card issues, I found out that this SD card reader's most recent driver would not recognize anything over 2Gb. So, my resolution was to use this ridiculously inexpensive USB card reader instead. It took the built in reader out of the equation and worked like a charm. While I am not going to sing praises about speed statistics or workmanship, for $5 it was a cheap, easy resolution and worked as described........

four out of five were good
I bought five of these card readers for student use in a photography course that I'm teaching. Four of the five worked perfectly. They read and can be written to as they should. The fifth one had a USB cable extension that was visibly defective -- the white bar in the receiver end was in the center of the capsule rather than at the bottom. It also proved defective when connected to the computer. The computer rejected the card reader when it was read through this cable. But the fifth card reader itself worked perfectly when connnected directly to the computer. It would be nice if everything worked as it should, but I can live with four out of five at this price. It is only the USB cable extension that is defective, and all the other card readers I have ever purchased came without such a cable. Update 09-01-11. I bought five more -- and the SAME THING happened. Four out of five cables worked fine, the fifth didn't. All 5 card readers were fine. I've got to give the manufacturer high grades for consistency.

Works, but---------
Precision Design USB 2.0 High Speed CompactFlash' Card Reader Zeikos SD/MMC High Speed Card reader: Less than satisfactory in my opinion. When inserting the male end of the reader into my computer USB port, the metal male end slides back into the holder which makes it difficult to insert fully into the usb port. Appears to be defective; not sure. Works after messing around with it for awhile. Three stars might be pushing it a little. First time I have not been satisfied with an Amazon product. Worked perfectly, up until it straight out died.
I bought this to go with my SDHC card. It was really reasonably priced, it even shipped quickly, and it worked perfectly, for about 4 months. I probably used it 20-30 times, was really careful with it, unloaded between 2 and 200 photos each round, and it kept up really well. Then it just died, zero warning. The light just stopped working, it wouldn't even register as being in the USB port on my comp, it only registered as being dead on my friend's laptop. Definitely tossing this and buying a more expensive reader with better reviews. All the money I thought I was saving went out the window when it died so early on.

Great Product
This is a great product. After trying several similar products, I'm glad to have finally settled on this one. Function is not in question. What I like most about it is it's durability. It has a very compact yet sturdy feel to it. I've heard several similar card readers which felt they'd just fall apart in my hands. I like the snap on cover over the memory card. A previous reader I used, had a flip on cover which after a month was loose and eventually came off leaving the card always exposed. Not good considering the device is pretty useful for storing extra cards as you move around.
