Review: Name on desertcart is Misleading; Good Book But Bad Branding - I'm giving 5 Stars because the book itself is a good book and I don't want to take away from that. However, I am writing a negative review due to the way desertcart branded this book in its page title. I do like this book, but it wasn't what I was expecting. The Name listed on desertcart as "100+ drawing exercises..." just isn't true. It's got lots of tips, techniques, and advice but I might call them, at best, tutorials as there are no actual exercises or calls to action within this book. It's not the book's fault, within the book it does not claim to have drawing exercises - just techniques. This is a good book for people who are just starting out or are curious about what it's like being a pro artist - but doesn't provide much for anyone who might already be a good artist, or are working professionally. I bought this book as an art teacher and curious about the 'exercises' but, unfortunately, there are no exercises. I'll hold onto this book, I like the advice, I like the art, I like the examples, I like the artist... but it doesn't have any exercises in it. desertcart: the word exercises implies that there are assignments and/or projects that an artist can do that follow a certain guideline or activity to improve their work. At best this is informative but it definitely does not include any call to action. Review: Great book, bad sticker placement - First of all, Simone Grünewald is amazing and so is her book. What's annoying is that the distributor decided to put an SKU sticker over her name, which resulted in her name being torn off even though I was super careful while removing 😞. If I hadn't gotten this for a great deal I would be more annoyed, but instead I will settle for forever being slightly annoyed when looking at that part of the book. Please choose better sticker placement next time! Regardless, Simone deserves 5 stars. Other than that, the books contents look great. It is stuffed full of information and lovely illustrations. Do buy if you're learning to draw or just like to flip through art books 😁

Best book I’ve seen on drawing characters!
This is the best book on drawing figures and characters that I have read, and I have read a lot of them. Grunewald knows her stuff and presents the technical through sketches and painting in a very effective and engaging manner. Her methods are direct and easy to understand and reproduce. She covers it all, from perspective and foreshortening to shading and gesture. What really stands out is how dynamic her figures are, along with her clear explanations of how that is achieved. And, of course, she is excellent on facial expression. The methods can be applied to drawing animals too. Great book!

SHES A GENIUS!
This book is the perfect companion for anyone on the beginning of their art journey! I found the artist on Instagram a few month ago and i have fallen in love with her mini tutorials. This book has the same easy feel of her Instagram but it’s more detailed and encouraging! I think my favorite part about this book is that the artist doesn’t immediately dive in to teaching you how to draw heads and faces ( as she notes in her book, a lot of people have a hard time getting past the head and face). I’ve personally had this problem and she really helped me get passed this but encouraging readers to look at the big picture stuff. I’m officially a huge fan. I wish she had more books because I’d buy them in a heartbeat!

Excellent all-in-one resource for beginners who want to go pro.
I love the depth of content Simone covers in this book. Each page is packed to the corners with valuable information. Anyone who's been around the art industry or steeped hours in online tutorials by professionals, has come across most of this information, which is why it's fantastic for beginners who want to want to step up their game and don't know where to start. She covers the essentials of every topic you can think of from color theory, to layout design, character design, anatomy, brush techniques, etc and even freelancer industry tips, but words them in ways that anyone can comprehend. See pictures in my review for the table of contents. I would really recommend this as a gift if you have a teenager who's into the entertainment arts (comics, gaming, and animation) as well as her other book, "Draw What You Love." I believe these would make great academic standards, as her content is explained clearly, concisely, and with plenty of visual instruction. The teaching style isnt your standard "draw this. Now draw this." but rather, she explains the why and how of technical methods, with practical application. On top of that, the quality of the physical book itself makes for an excellent gift. It's got a velvety cover with paper half dust cover that makes for a gorgeous coffee table piece. Again, all the same can be said and even more about her other book, "Draw What You Love" and together, they're everything you'll ever need to know to get a start in a professional art career, or to enhance your hobby.

Amazing content, poor editing
I love Simone's art and this book has become a useful guide whenever I'm drawing something new. The book itself is gorgeous and filled with the author's careful drawings. However, I have the feeling that no native English speaker reviewed the book before being published. There are so many grammatical mistakes that make me cringe. I understand that Simone is German and probably wrote the book in English, but I would imagine that someone's job would be to proofread it. At one point, when giving tips on how to observe anatomy, Simone says you should "screw up your eyes," which really doesn't make sense. Also, there is at least one instance where the same paragraph is duplicated in the same page. Again, amazing book, but poor editing by the publisher.

Lovely book
Great book! Easy to read and great examples and references. I refer back to this book all the time. I love the art style she has and the way she explains things just makes sense. The book itself is really great quality. It was bigger than I expected and it has a ribbon bookmark and elastic strap to keep it closed.

Wonderful book
The book has so much very useful information and the artwork is very nice. Only problem is I had some problems with the delivery, the packaging of the book was always damaged. It makes it harder to resell but Amazon fixed that problem for me.

Il libro è bellissimo però...
... però questa volta devo bacchettare Amazon. Dove tenete i libri?

Beautiful Illustrations
A well-made book with gorgeous illustrations. I've been inspired by this artist and when I saw this book, I was thrilled. A great addition to my collection. The book is loaded with sketches for inspiration, with little tips along the way. There is a long bio about the artist, but it has cute drawings with it. Good to use as a reference book to help with original poses and develop creative ideas. I wish there would have been more information on backgrounds, different surrounding and objects included. The focus is mainly on character design, a bit of colour, faces, folds, pets and some proportion information. Hand and legs pages are greatly appreciated as they are harder to master. Overall, a good reference book for inspiration and tips.
