Great Coffee Pot For Camping!

Works fine
I can agree that the clear percolator top doesn't fit tightly, but as the pot heats, the seal gets tighter. I've never burned my hands because of it. The lid hinge is an aluminum band that has a lot of play, but once I bent it tightly around the handle, it keeps the lid from falling off. The instruction for brewing were incorrect in my opinion. I brew 20 ounces of coffee and use three kitchen table spoons (not heaping) of coffee. I add the coffee to the basket outside the pot because a few smaller coffee ground will get through the filter basket. I put the burner on high just until the first perk hits the clear dome, then I turn the heat down to a simmer for 11 minutes or so. If there is a lot of steam, the heat is too high. After 11 minutes, I remove the pot from the heat, put on an oven mitt and remove the filter basket from the pot. I imagine one could adjust the amount of coffee and the brewing time or heat to brew stronger or weaker coffee. The one irritating thing is the used grounds. Avoid putting grounds down the drain means putting them somewhere and then removing the remaining grounds that stick to the filter basket. For me it is important to have a source of brewed coffee that doesn't need electricity.

Memory issues and making coffee
We've so far bought 8 coffee pots for a family member that has memory issues and forgets that coffee is on the stove. They insist on percolated coffee and nothing else. I was looking for a cast-iron percolator, to no avail. Then camping equipment came to mind. I came across these and chose her favorite color, blue. This pot has taken a serious beating and has outlasted ALL the other pots by months. The cooking behavior hasn't changed,I've caught many times a dry pot,and the good thing is,the pot hasn't suffered damage. It cleans up well, the plastic perc glass hasn't melted. If I had to replace this pot,it will be with the same product, no question.

Great Concept, But Sharp Edges Are a Safety Concern
Review Title: Great Concept, But Sharp Edges Are a Safety ConcernI really like the overall design and functionality of the GSI Outdoors Percolator Coffee Pot. It has a great classic look, works well for campfire or stovetop brewing, and feels durable with its enamelware construction. However, I was disappointed to find several sharp, unfinished edges. The bottom ring has rough spots that feel like they were not properly smoothed out. The lip of the pot also has sharp sections, and even the ring that holds the lid when closed has areas with sharp edges. These issues raise safety concerns, especially when cleaning or handling the pot.I reached out to Amazon to request a replacement, but so far I haven’t received a response. I hope GSI Outdoors considers improving quality control in future batches. With these issues addressed, this would be a great coffee pot for both camping and home use.

Campfire Coffee Coffee Pot!
Isn't it funny that when you watch an old Western Movie/program, their saddle bags were never wide enough to hold a Coffee pot much less a skillet, utincles, etc. But when they camped for the night, THERE was always a Coffee pot on the fire. What can I say, it's a good old fashion metal percolator type Coffee pot. Can't wait to actually try it but, it needs to be seasoned first. I'll do that here at home.
