Like knife
I like the knife steel on the blade is a little soft

Almost does everything it is supposed to
This knife is great, but doesn't do EVERYTHING it is supposed to, it looks like you should be able to open it with a flick of your index finger (like the joker knife), but the metal ridge is BELOW the plastic case, so you can basically only open it with your thumb, and using leverage against the knife case, it is a very nice knife, and once you get the "trick" down opening it is very easy, I like the thumb "safety" it is very easy to use, and the knife opens very quickly, but the opening layout could use a makeover (I'm tempted to file out the top of the knife so that I can open it with a flick of my index finger, a nice knife overall.

Good Easy Open Knife - Recommended
This Gerber "Fast Draw" knife is replacing my lost Gerber "EZ Out" knife that I carried for almost 15 years, so it has a lot to live up to. While Amazon usually has the best prices (about 2/3 cheaper), I went to a big box "outfitter" store to try out some different models since knifes are tools that you really have to hold to see if they are "right" for you. Here are my observations:Pros:+ Easy to open one handed, the spring assist is very helpful+ Positive lock, working to keep it closed and open, which is useful for keeping all of your fingers attached+ Sharp blade right out of the package and it holds an edge nicely+ Sturdy belt clipCons:- Somewhat "cheesy" looking grip, I almost passed it up without trying it out because it looked cheap to me- Mechanism makes a grinding sound when the blade is closed, but I'm hoping that it is just a wearing in issueWhile I doubt this knife will last as long as my last Gerber, it is a very good tool for daily use in our small shop.Recommended! Also, there is a Gerber 22-41525 Mini-Fast Draw Spring Assisted Opening Stainless Steel Serrated Knife (see my comparison picture in "Customer Images").CFH

Not what they used to be.
I've owned Gerber knives forever, and in particular, their different spring assist knives. They are very handy in the warehouse when you get in a bind and need to cut a strap but one hand is already busy. They are also nice simply as a self defense weapon. This one, however, didn't live up to the ones I've lost before. I returned the first one, didn't want to open smoothly, the second one was better but still the action simply sucks compared to the older Gerbers. Not sure if it is made in China, but that is the feel I got from the knife. Really, the price should be half or less for this quality. Again, not remotely like the Gerbers of old. I hope they haven't lowered the quality on their whole line this way. Generously giving three stars in the hope this was a bad batch.

Never leave home without it!
There's truly nothing I dislike about this knife. It's a great size for your front or back pocket, has the belt clip so you can technically clip it just about anywhere. Spring assisted knives are not legal to carry in all states, so be sure to check the laws in your area. With a limited lifetime warranty (which means the CONSUMERS lifetime, not the lifetime of the product - but generally, that's still a really long time!) I can't see a good reason not to love this knife!

keep coming back to it
works well. assisted opening is strong and blade came very sharp. only downside is the price, have bought this exact knife a few times over the years and it has gotten much more expensive.

An old favorite
This is my third one. One was stolen, then replaced. Now I have my main and a spare. Durable, holds a great edge. Fast draw and release and a great pocket clip. I've been carrying it every day s for 5 years. No signs of wear.

CHEAP GARBAGE
I bought this knife to replace a 15 year old version that has given me yeoman service but it has seen better days so I ordered this same model replacement. The new replacement is CHEAP CHINESE GARBAGE. The knife is supposed to be an assisted opening knife but I had to repeatedly pull the blade open/closed to get it to function at all. The opening movement feels like it is pivoting on gritty sand instead of bearings. I took the knife out to my shop and flushed the mechanism out, blew it dry and then relubed the mechanism and it has barely improved. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS JUNK.
