This is a very well written (and highly sited) book for satellite retrieval analysis. I found it to be an incredibly useful reference for my research in data assimilation. I highly suggest it for anyone wanting to understand the theory behind satellite retrievals.

Important ideas. Terrible writing.
A terrible writing style obscures this author’s important work, ideas now widely applied in satellite remote sensing for which the author deserves, and has received, much credit. Unneeded clauses and side remarks, misspellings, incomplete mathematics, poor organization, too much passive voice. A poorly written book, among the worst I’ve encountered in my atmospheric science career.
