Works great!
I used this putty to fill a crack in my horse’s hoof. It is very hard and sticky so I softened it first at home and scooped a bit into a plastic baggie. I kept it warm in my pocket so that it stayed soft. When I got to my horse I turned the bag so that I could put my hand into the dry side and push the putty into the crack. It worked great. My hand stayed clean and I was able to push the putty well into the crack. The putty stayed in the crack for over a week.

Great for seedy toe, sticks well
This stuff STICKS. My horse had a hole in her toe from seedy toe, so I cleaned it out and filled it with this. This stuff stuck for about 2+ MONTHS without coming out; helping me protect the hoof from mud and bacteria from the pasture. Her seedy toe is gone now. The first picture was when I first filled the spot with Keratex hoof putty, the second is after two farrier visits when they were able to get the remaining bacteria picked out (the farrier left the putty in the first visit - yes, the deeper parts stayed inside even when he chopped off the outside of the toe with some putty!). Sorry for the little bit of mud I missed cleaning out in the second pic. Overall, I would definitely recommend this for seedy toe and filling openings/cracks in the hoof wall.

Great Product, However VERY Messy
Product works great for filling in the holes in the hoof around the nail and the summer cracks and chips they develop from stomping. It’s only been a few days since I’ve applied it but it seems to stay in place and really like it for this purpose. I tried it to protect hoof wall for a thrown shoe while waiting for the farrier, however it is very pliable, even after application and didn’t help much there. I only gave 4 out of 5 stars because full disclosure, it makes a mess. The can it came in and the hoof pick I used are covered in the product. It does not come with an opener or applicator so be prepared to have a hoof pick and rubber gloves ready. Also, the product remains tacky like and shavings and hay will stick to areas of application. I would definitely purchase again.

Perfect to fill in hole from sole abscess
I bought this to fill in the hole after a large sole abscess drained. It worked perfectly. The stuff is hard when you first try to use it so warm it up the amount you need with your hand. You have to use it on very clean feet, so I would suggest soaking first to make sure it gets sealed well, but once it did it was PERFECT. It healed beautifully and stayed in the hole until it was pushed out as the hole closed.

Wouldn't stay on
Difficult to use and was much more interested in sticking to my fingers than my horse's hoof. I couldn't get any I applied to actually stay on the foot.

Great for filling narrow long holes
Great product for filling holes, like ones from a farrier opening a hoof abscess (after the abscess has drained of course). Stays in well and provides comfort. Doesn't work as well for larger openings. Expect to need to get it out with a knife and warm it in your hands

This is the first 5 week cycle all summer that my horse kept his shoes on!
My horse has Shelly crumbly feet and it's a non stop battle to keep shoes on him. I started using keratex hoof hardener and the putty together. I filled all the chipped and cracked areas and the nail holes so they wouldn't be wedged open by sand and dirt. This is the first 5 week cycle all summer that he hasn't lost a shoe and the putty stays on for a good week so this little can will last a good year I'm guessing.

Hard as cement
Bought this based on having used Keratex hoof sealer and really was pleased on how it helped harden my horses hoof, also based on reviews on how this works great for abcess in hoofs, My results on a old burros with an abcess was NOT GOOD. The sealer said it would harden and become a protective seal, problem was the stuff hardened with a small amount making a pea like stone that only stuck in the hoof causing pain not comfort. The product was extremely hard to soften and work with, to the point where you had to work it with the heat of your hands. My hands hurt more than I think the abcess hurt my burro. I think this is a good product if you can apply it flat on hoof, but it isn't the easiest application. I also want to add that I applied the product, than wrap the hoof hoping to make a flat clean seal, when my farrier came, we found that the abcess had actually blown another hole out the hoof because the putty had sealed the first hole up. IF you try this product my advise is to check the hoof after a couple days if your animal is still limping, you may have the same problem I had, if not than maybe it worked for you.

Très bien pour soigner une fourmilière au sabot. Il faut bien malaxer le produit avant utilisation un peu comme de la patte à modeler pour pouvoir l'insérer dans les fentes du sabot.

What I did was: soak hoof, dry, place on large piece of cardboard(our barn has rubber mats but this keeps the hoof cleaner) let air dry, work with the putty with clean hoof pick to get out(once out it goes soft in hands quickly but it's a rock in can). Then have someone else hold foot when you put it in. It stays in about 1 or 2 weeks for my mare.

this was amazing after my horses abcess had drained, difficult to get out of the tin and mould but once it had warmed up it created a secure plug to prevent re infection and it was very durable. Able to turn out in muddy wet weather and still sound
