The Drolet A Quality Wood Burning Stove
Bought this stove, because after years of heating with wood, I wanted to have a glass door and be able to see the fire.I have only had the stove a short time and have not used it yet in frigid or sub-zero weather, but with the smaller fires I have had, it seems to be a very nice stove. It is a truly air-tight stove so you must be sure to have the fire going well before you latch the door. It does have an air intake rod below the door to let more air in to the fire while getting things going with the door closed. The heat being given off by this stove, seems very even and balanced, of course a lot depends on the wood you are burning, the drier the better. I have been burning ash wood so far and it does well in this stove. The Drolet has a nice wood ash drawer under the firebox and you can easily push the ashes down there by lifting a small cast metal door up, at the front of the firebox. This is a quality stove and I can see why other reviewers have given it high ratings. My sister looked up the back-ground of the manufacturer and she found they are a French company who have been making stoves since the 1800's.I will know more after burning the Drolet all winter, with hotter fires, in colder temps, but I have a feeling I have made a very good purchase. Home Depot did offer this stove $200 cheaper than the seller on Amazon, but they were out of stock when I wanted to purchase. The stove came very securely crated for shipping, there was care taken with that also!

Well made and gorgeous stove
This unit arrived much earlier than expected, it arrived packaged in a wood crate which kept it safe. We had to cover our stove with a tarp and leave outside for a week as we were not ready for the install. When we brought the stove into our yurt it was in perfect condition. Very solid well made stove all the areas are sealed well and the paint is a heavy duty coating that should last for decades. The door is heavy and solid and has a great closing mechanism and definitely seals in the heat. I read the booklet and it says not recommended to use fake logs due to the tight seal on the stove and the way it retains the heat. This stove will utilize 90% of the heat from wood and lose very little through chimney which is amazing. Also I added the blower to my order and it runs quiet and blows very smoothly and regularly, you can put your hand by the vent and feel the blower working without using the stove(to test it) . We are very happy with the modern look and the viewing window so we can enjoy the ambiance of a fire at night. We bought this for our yurt up in the northeast kingdom of Vermont and we are going to have a warm winter in the yurt now... also great customer service as one stove interior brick was cracked, I emailed the company and they replied within minutes that they were shipping out a replacement brick. Very happy.

Would buy again
We have done research on woodstoves prior to buying this one and for the price of this, we could not find anything better. We were originally looking for a European Style wood stove, where we can see the fire and this was the closest one to it that we could find, that we could afford. Our house has approx. 850sft and it's all open with a loft and we don't have electric heat. It's an 1917 old schoolhouse with a 18' high ceiling and this wood stove has to heat the entire house. We only burn juniper wood and go to bed at around 9pm at night and load it up and it will hold the heat until 3 o'clock in the morning, when one of has to get up, we put a couple more pieces of wood on it's good until 7 in the morning. We bought a blower for circulating the heat better and it made a huge difference. I believe it's a Drolet blower and it is the one that goes on the back side of the stove and it has a hole for it already.Plus the Prime Amazon free shipping was a nice feature as well.

Great wood stove. Very responsive company.
I spent a lot of time researching wood stoves and came across the Drolet line, which is manufactured in Canada. The first thing I noticed is that the top plate is thicker than many of the competitors, which alleviates warping issues. There were a ton of great reviews on their HT2000 model but I thought that one might be too big for my space. So with the help of the SBI / Drolet tech support team, I finally decided on the Escape 1800, which is a large stove as opposed to an extra large. The tech guys are fantastic. They respond quickly to all questions, usually within an hour or two. They even looked over a drawing of my house layout to help me with location and sizing. This unit has a good size firebox making it easy to load in logs and the stove is really solid, well built....and heavy. I've only had a few small fires so far to break it in but there was very little paint smell from the curing process. The viewing glass is a good size and overall, the unit looks great in the room. At this point I'm very impressed with the quality, price and support of the company. Highly recommended!!

I LOVE this thing.
This stove does an amazing job of heating up my house! According to the manufacturer website, its designed to heat around 2100 sq ft, however, I got it for my 1400 sq ft house thinking that I'd need something a little bigger for the icy Colorado mountain winters. Combined with the blower that goes on this thing (the ultra quiet blower is anything but ultra quiet by the way) my house is so warm. I used to spend around $500/month on propane to heat my house meaning I was out almost $3,000/year just for heating. But with this wood stove, I've saved so much money. I can't recommend this stove enough. 13/10, definitely get this one if you're in the market for a wood stove.

Well worth the investment
This is a well constructed stove and very reasonable price. I replaced a home made stove with the Drolet 1800 and have been very impressed with the performance. My consumption of wood has been greatly reduced due to the efficiency of this stove. I’m heating a fairly large area (1,500 sq ft) and this stove has been up to the challenge. I would highly recommend this stove if you are in the market for one.

This is a great stove.
So easy to clean and looks great. Doesn’t come with a fan which is too bad. The fan was another $200.00.
