Works well, but gets toasty.
The 256 GB flash drive works as expected and offers reliable storage in a compact metal design. However, the metal casing tends to get noticeably hot during extended read/write operations. A simple workaround is attaching something metal (paperclip, nail cutter) to act as a heat sink, which effectively cools it down. Overall, it's functional and well-made, but the heat issue is worth noting. Heat is a small issue, I recommend it especially if the price is right.

As good as there is
Ya, read speed is fast, but nobody really cares about that. Write speed is slow, but I think that's really just based on usb 3.2; usb 3.0 is almost unusable for large writes. As the tech gets better write speeds will increase. It gets hot, but still works, and cools down quickly. For now, this is about as good as you can get.

If speed is your concern, this is the thumb drive for you!
The media could not be loaded. I purchased this storage drive strictly for the purpose of recording content directly from my Xbox Series X/S - here's my take:Elevate your file storage experience with the SanDisk 512GB Ultra Luxe USB 3.2 Gen 1 Flash Drive, boasting an elegant, full cast metal design. I do like this metal design, but it is a tad difficult to insert into the USB slot on both my PC and Xbox. Fits very snugly, insert carefully.- Save valuable time with lightning-fast transfer speeds of up to 400MB/s, ensuring efficient data transfer and minimizing wait times. It makes such a difference when transferring house of video files back to PC to edit.- Experience rapid file transfers, with the ability to move a full-length movie to the drive in less than 30 seconds, thanks to USB 3.2 Gen 1 technology. Xbox Series X/S requires USB 3.p, this exceeds that requirement!- Securely store high-resolution photos, videos, music, documents, and more with up to 512GB of storage, providing ample space for all your digital needs. Perfect amount space for a weeks worth of recordings, and transfers so quickly to PC you're back to recording in no time!- Safeguard your files with ease using the downloadable software that enables password protection, utilizing 128-bit AES encryption for enhanced security on both Windows 10+ and macOS v10.9+ systems. I'm not using this feature, but would be helpful for this sensitive items ;)The bottom line: this is a premium product, and is definitely priced that way. You can find “cheaper” options. For what my end goal is, producing high quality content, having this piece of equipment being of trustworthy build and quality was important to me. The issue of it being difficult to insert into the devices I've used it with is a bit of a detractors, but I'm careful as to not force it and damage anything.

Reliable small Flash Drive
May not be the fastest, may not have the largest capacity, may not have the smallest profile, but this drive is reliable and great for bringing data from one location to another and have the drive boot immediately without failure. Very happy with the utility and reliability. Can't go wrong for the price and peace of mind.

SanDisk 512GB Ultra Luxe USB 3.2 Gen 1 Flash Drive
I bought the SanDisk 512GB Ultra Luxe USB 3.2 Gen 1 Flash Drive to replace a flash drive that, after several years of use, finally went bad.Pros and Cons:Pros:It's tiny and sleek, and the metal shell appears strong and sturdy. It can fit on a keychain and has a good amount of memory- 512GB. It's also a USB 3.2 Gen 1 version that is supposed to do transfers up to 400 mb/s.Cons:I just got the flash drive and plugged it into my 2020 Macbook Air M1, and after just 5 minutes, the drive was extremely hot to the touch. It's much hotter than other flash drives I've used. I tried to move 6.9GB of data over to the flash drive. Something that should have taken seconds but came back with a window that said it would take 13 hours. -WTH!!! I couldn't believe it, so I canceled the transfer and repeated to transfer it again, and it came back with the same window info. - 13 hrs. I decided to let it follow through with the transfer to see what would happen. After 8 minutes, I gave up. I unplugged the SanDisk flash drive and plugged in another flash drive (Patriot Rage XT 128GB USB 3.0) that I bought back in 2014. This time, the transfer took 43 seconds. I don't know why the SanDisk flash drive I bought was not performing correctly, but I returned it the next day to Amazon for a full refund. Lastly, I also had some difficulty plugging this SanDisk flash drive in and definitely had to put some extra strength into pulling it out. It was extremely tight-fitting compared to 2 other drives I have. I cannot recommend this specific SanDisk flash drive.
