Guyana, 2nd (Bradt Travel Guides)

This is the first Bradt travel guide I have purchased and the standard is excellent, Better than any other travel guide I have purchsed for any other country. The author writes very well, has actually lived in the place, and has taken the trouble to visit just about everywhere he describes. I purchased separately a map by another publisher and it was lousy and a waste of money. The maps in the Bradt guide are excellent and show every single place you might want to visit. A travel guide for Guyana can hardly be a great commercial proposition and Bradt are to be congratulated for taking such a brave decision.

If you are going to Guyana, get this book.When you get to Guyana relax over a cappuccino and enjoy the lunch buffet at the Oasis, then get out of Georgetown and get into the interior. (Don't forget to bring steel leader if you plan on fishing, the piranha bite through regular leader like it wasn't even there).

Excellent book for tourists and those who wish to explore Guyana. It's detailed with alot of information about where to visit, history, where to eat, where to stay and much more. I've found it useful on my journeys throughout this region. Highly recommended.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED AND ESSENTIAL READING FOR GUYANESE VISITORSFirst of all an admission: I lived in Guyana until my teenage years until I migrated so I have the perspective of a resident.The author has made the best GUYANA GUIDE I have seen thus far in print.Very little has been missed and anyone wishing to visit GUYANA would find this book ESSENTIAL READING. Both prior to their visit and as a reference document, during their stay in GY.That is why I BOUGHT MY COPY.More use could (perhaps) have been made of colour graphics in the book, (Guyana and her rainforests being one of the most colourful places on the planet), but that is just a minor criticism.NOTE: A large pocket map of the country would also be a good idea for 'enthusiastic' visitors... this was the first Bradt guide i have purchased and after using this i can say it definitely won't be the last! the guide is incredibly concise and the author seems to have researched every inch of Guyana and documented it for us!i can honestly say my trip to Guyana has been one of the most outstanding to date (for good reasons and bad!) however this book and the incredibly friendly people of Guyana have guided me to an unforgettable trip. so thank you Mr Smock et al.definitely worth the purchase

Excellent Brandt do a great travel guide great insight, accurate with great photos and maps used it on my recent trip to the interior you won't be disappointed.

Definitely an added value when you're travelling to Guyana. Loads of info about Georgetown but also about the nature destinations in the south.Maps are clearly printed with a lot of information. It's also an excellent book for someone who's composing the trip by themselves.

Very informative and will be helpfull in planning a proposed trip to Guyana.
