My Kitchen Scale Just Got a Sidekick and My Baking is Grateful!
My relationship with kitchen scales has been a journey. I started with a basic digital one, which was fine for measuring flour by the cup (converted to grams, because I was trying to be fancy). Then I got into baking, real baking, the kind that requires measuring yeast in amounts smaller than a sneeze. My old scale just laughed at me, displaying a defiant "0g" until I'd dumped in enough yeast to leaven a small car. Clearly, I needed more precision. And maybe a little more capacity for when I decided to make a truly epic batch of cookies. That's when the KitchenAid Dual Platform Digital Kitchen and Food Scale entered my life. I saw the two platforms and immediately thought, "It's a scale with a buddy!" The large platform handles the heavy lifting – flour, sugar, that giant bowl of dough. It's got capacity for days (up to 11 pounds!). But the real star, for my baking needs anyway, is the smaller, precision platform. This thing measures in tiny increments, perfect for those microscopic amounts of yeast, salt, or spices that make all the difference. It's like having a regular scale and a jeweler's scale had a very useful baby. Using them together is where the magic happens. The dual display shows both weights at the same time. I can be measuring flour for the main dough on the big side and simultaneously portioning out a minuscule amount of fancy sea salt for a topping on the small side. I feel like a mad scientist in a culinary lab, meticulously weighing out ingredients with pinpoint accuracy. My cat is probably wondering why I'm suddenly so focused on small piles of white powder. The tare function works flawlessly on both platforms, which is essential for adding multiple ingredients to the same bowl without doing complicated math (my brain is not a calculator, especially before tea). The scale itself is sleek and doesn't take up too much counter space, which is a minor miracle in my crowded kitchen. If you're tired of your scale ignoring tiny, crucial ingredients, if you need capacity for larger batches but precision for delicate measurements, and you enjoy the feeling of having a highly capable kitchen sidekick, this dual platform scale is fantastic. It's well-made, incredibly accurate, and has made my baking (and general cooking) much more consistent and less prone to accidental ingredient avalanches. My baked goods are happier, and so is my sanity. I'm thoroughly impressed with this two-in-one wonder.

Very hardy
I ordered this one because I thought I killed my last one while making sourdough bread. This scale is my husband's pride and joy and one of the only things in the kitchen that he claims as his for making pizza. Imagine my panic when the scale stopped working. I dropped water on it and didn't realize how much went into the scale. I kept the scale in the cabinet while crossing my fingers that this one arrived before my husband got the urge to start the pizza dough process again. Thankfully, it did. Expect the other scale started working again after fully drying out, I guess on the inside. I have decided to keep this scale as an emergency backup in case I do indeed actually fully kill the scale in the future.

Good scale, minor caveats
It's a good scale, measures accurately and quickly enough, with a good sized platform for heavy things and an accurate platform for things that need a lot of precision. Controls are fairly intuitive. A disclaimer for why I gave it a 5 even though I have some issues: I've been particularly hard on the scale over a 4 month window. Every day usage, hot things, fine jam prone powders like corn starch or xanthan gum. In short, I have not been kind to this scale, and it's still performing perfectly satisfactorily for the price I paid. The platforms being made of of metal means that they conduct heat well. If you're weighing something hot, the heat transfer to the platform will make it warp ever so slightly and you'll see the weight shift by a gram or two. This only matters if your recipe is that sensitive. I corrected it by buying a cheap sheet of self adhesive cork and just putting that on it. Costs next to nothing, gives enough insulation that everything is stable, and also looks nice. The positioning of the control buttons makes them well situated to have anything you spill land on them, and if that happens to be something like corn starch, it can be a bit sticky. I handled this by rotating the scale so I don't drop things on the controls. A little soft plastic cover over the buttons might also help. Overall a good scale for cooking with small quantity ingredients.

Just buy 2 cheap scales. This is terrible and expensive
Atrocious. With a big discount, this was the same price as the most expensive scales in other brands. I expect this to at least cover the basics. It says "5kg/1g and 500g/0.01g" so I expect that accuracy. The small scale works nicely but the big scale will rarely give you the same measurement twice, on perfectly flat surfaces it will just add or remove weight randomly if left alone and worse of everything, if you add something at a speed it doesn't like, it'll just not register at all, you can add a good portion of something and it'll ignore it completely if you pour too fast or too slow. In my video I compare it to a literal $2.50 scale that is not even close to this level of uselessness. Don't touch this but if you want to be disappointed by yourself, don't get it at full price it's worse than the cheapest scales you can buy anywhere.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Precision Perfection – The Best Scale I’ve Ever Owned!
If I could give this **6 stars**, I would. 🌟 This is hands-down the **GOAT of kitchen scales**. The **dual platform** feature is genius — I can measure both large and micro quantities without needing a second scale. Whether I’m weighing flour for baking or seasoning for precision recipes, this scale handles it all effortlessly. ⚖️🍽️ It’s more **expensive** than basic models, but you’re paying for **exceptional accuracy**, sleek **features**, and the reliability of **KitchenAid**. The **scale size** is compact but big enough to handle most mixing bowls, and it has a sturdy feel without being heavy. It’s also super **easy to use** — intuitive controls, quick response time, and easy-to-read display. Only wish? That it was **rechargeable** instead of battery-powered. 🔋 But even with that, this scale is worth every penny.

Impressive. But one little thing…
Advertisement indicates it measures to 0.01g but there is no mention of accuracy. I tried measuring something to see what .01 g looks like. I tried rice hulls. It couldn’t do it. It jumped to .05g then to zero. I could not get it to measure .01g or .02g of them. I have a single beam scale with gram counter weights. It measured 1.0g as 1.00g. 10g measured at 10.01g, 20g at 20.04g and 50 g at 50.11g. I measured 10 ml in a graduated cylinder that size. Water weights 1 g per ml. It weighed 10.33g. I would not expect to get any closer. The scale seems to be accurate to within 1/4% of total weight, which is pretty impressive. Extraordinary resolution for a non-lab instrument. I applaud Kitchen Aid for including batteries with a tab to remove to make battery contact. The tare feature is executed flawlessly and last used scale comes back in the default g vs ounce. One star deducted for leading a person to believe they are measuring to within a 0.01g resolution and there is no statement of resolution accuracy. Still impressive and worth it.

Accurate, Fast, and Perfect for Baking. Especially handy for sourdough!!
I’ve been using the KitchenAid KQ909 Dual Platform Scale for three months now, mostly for sourdough baking, and it’s quickly become one of my favorite kitchen tools. The ability to measure two things at once is surprisingly handy. Being able to weigh the small amount of salt necessary while also measuring my starter, flour, and water at the same time is game-changing. Both platforms are quick and accurate, reacting instantly to small changes in weight. I haven't had this mysterious issue that others seem to have when changing platforms, namely because I'm putting a bowl that fits the size of the weighing platform on each. If it's the small platform, I use a small bowl that fits. If it's the big platform, I use a bigger bowl. The surface area and placement of each object is going to affect how it measures. Expecting 2 different scales to measure exactly identically is a fool's errand; don't fall for it. Use the big scale to get a big and accurate measurement. Use the small scale to get a small and accurate measurement. The display is easy to read. Cleaning is simple, a quick wipe with a damp rag and it looks brand new again. If you bake regularly or just want a reliable scale that handles multiple tasks without slowing you down, this one’s a winner.

The smaller scale is not accurate
The smaller scale is not accurate, very disappointed. The reading often keeps changing for no reason, so it cannot be relied on. Shame. Edit: It suddenly died well before reaching its second year... Nothing could be done to revive it.
