Microsoft Flight Simulator X Deluxe DVD - PC

My system: It ain't the latest-greatest "Duo" or "Quad" super fast hell on wheels box. In fact it's a Dell Optiplex GX270, 3.0Ghz Hyperthreaded P4. RAM is 2GB, video is ATI Radeon 9550 (Dual capable) w 256Mb DDR. Sound is Creative Audigy4, MS Sidewinder Precision Pro flight stick (USB driven) I just received my copy of FSX-Deluxe + Accelerator Pack. They installed flawlessly in under 30 minutes, total. Just got through "test flying" it. Stunning! I just selected "free flight", Cessna 172, and I selected my local small air field, which should be located just to the east of Nashville, TN. Cornelia Fort air park. Got flying, quickly located Berry International just where it should be. Went looking for Nashville's skyline - hmmm, kind of generic looking. Oh well. I'm not picky about that type of detail anyway. That said, the graphics and dynamic graphic details were none the less stunning. Everything from the city traffic to other aircraft in flight was displayed quite well. I encountered no reduction in frame rates nor did I encounter any "stuttering" of the display. All played smoothly. I checked the simulator settings and they are all at 3/4 full. I intend on playing with those settings to see what my box can do. I haven't "played" FS since FS98. I have CFS3 which plays well on my system except when there is a lot of other things going on, then it may stumble a bit, but not enough to make it unplayable. It doesn't have near the graphic detail of FSX, and yet FSX beats it hands down in function. I am impressed. I definitely recommend FSX. Just be sure to either download the Service Pack when you've completed the install OR get the Acceleration Pack. You do not need to download the service pack if you have the Acceleration Pack. Activation went without a hitch - no problem at all!

I've been flying Microsoft for several years now, since FS2000 Pro. This version is a huge improvement over FS2000, Large improvement over FS2002, good improvement over FS2004. One thing I REALLY like is being able to see the small hills the highways follow, and they're where they are in real life. Nice. The terrain is similar to 2000 and 2004 but the trees and water are dramatically better. I think the flight dynamics are far, far better than any previous version. I also bought X-Plane based on the blade-element theory that the flight dynamics are as accurate as possible. Yech. I would hastily disagree. FSX is far more like what I experienced in real life vs Xplane. I don't play the XPlane sim much. It's too twitchy. When I fly, I FSX. It's just better. I'm running an HP quad core 2.2, Vista home premium-yum, 3 gigs of RAM and an 8500 video card w/ 256 megs of ram. Not state of the art, not overclocked at all, and I can run the sim on high, ultra high, with quite a bit of traffic, and some weather, and see FPS in the high 20's low 30's. If I turn the display up to 1600x1050 I start getting the jitters, so I keep it 1200x 768. I'll bet it would run even better under XP though, as Vista sucks up 1/3 of my memory at idle.

I have been a Flight Simulator fan since the mid 1980's when Bruce Artwick first developed the program for the Commodore and Atari computers (I've bought every upgrade since then). MicroSoft took over the development and marketing of this massive and complicated program in the 1990's and of course as the Commodore and Atari machines faded into the distant past, Flight Simulator went onto the PC platform. I've lost track of all the versions now, but FS2004 (FS9) has been my favorite, without a doubt. My review is not going to be technical; I'll just give you my general thoughts about FSX. ****************************************** UPDATE........ A FSX SERVICE PACK (SP1) HAS BEEN RELEASED FOR FSX. THE PROGRAM RUNS A LOT BETTER NOW. BUT STILL THE PROGRAM OVERALL, IS A BIG DISAPPOINTMENT..... ***************************************** I had been looking forward to getting FSX Deluxe (FS10) and finally puchased it through my most favorite internet retailer, AMAZON. I was not disappointed with their super service. I have a pretty "hot" desktop computer, so installation of the program via the DVD's went smoothly and I was able to set the program "sliders" moderately high (the "sliders" adjust the "realism" of Flight Simulator to a level that matches the ability of your computer). If there is any "game" which pushes the boundaries of your computer to the maximum. it has always been the latest version of Flight Simulater. FSX continues that philosophy. But I generally found FSX a bit disappointing, although it's generally quite a nice program. Scenery, aircraft, 3D panels, etc. have all been bumped up a few notches in quality, but I find that it is not a major improvement over FS2004. I was hoping for a working FMC (Flight Management Computer) and a much improved flight planner in this version but no such luck (third party designers have been selling FMC equipped cockpits for FS for years now...why not Microsoft?). Yes, I'll grudgingly switch over to FSX, but be annoyed at the disappointingly small amount of improvements (for my money). For example, I took off in the Cessna at SW International Airport in Fort Myers, Florida for a vfr flight down to my home town of Naples, Fl. This area of Florida has built up rapidly (too rapidly, in fact) over the years..lots of high rises on the gulf, and wall to wall housing developments, congested cities.... Yet the scenery appeared as if I were flying over the African savannah..mostly grassy plains, scattered clumps of palm trees and empty beaches..totally unrealistic. It looked like I could go on safari if I landed,(instead of getting caught in a traffic jam!). All in all, a fair program, but a bit of a disappointment for this old flight simmer.

Great software. Can't call this a game. Support from forums and Macs community is what makes this still viable. Millions of addons. If youd like to fly this is a must have. Very reasonable system requirements. Great for your kids if you are a pilot. Or interested in weather, or travel, or a million other things. Its nice to be able to fly different places and then do it for real. Many landmarks are really recognizable. Don't forget your headphones and Mic. The first time you talk to another player operating as air traffic control you will fall in head first.

日本語版があまりにも高価なので、英語版を購入しました。当然、全てが英語なので少し心配ですが、頑張ってみようと思います。Mac mini（Core i7 2,6GHz）の仮想環境にWindous XPをインストールして、そこにこのソフトをインストールして遊んでいます。画面の質を最高にすると流石に画面がカクカクしますが、少し落として（デフォリトくらい）やれば、まずまずの動作状態です。私にはすごく難しく思えるのと、時間が掛かるのでたまにしか遊べないのですが、文句なしに面白い。末永く遊んでいこうと思います。
