A Little History of Science Review: A really good overview - This was an easy read but gave a great chronology of science. I think if they gave students in highschool an overview like this that's engaging and told like a story first, we might have more scientists...just a thought. Review: Refresher from school days - I recently retired. For the past 40 years I’ve been busy raising kids, working, etc. This book was a great refresher for things I learned or should have learned durning my school years, plus updates of more modern times. It was technical but easy enough to read and understand for the layman. Really enjoyed it. Thirsty for more learning now!

A really good overview
This was an easy read but gave a great chronology of science. I think if they gave students in highschool an overview like this that's engaging and told like a story first, we might have more scientists...just a thought.

Valuable outline of the history of science.
Of course this is just a brief summary of a very complex subject. That being so, I find it very helpful.

A book excellent for 11 to 16 year olds
I bought this book for my 11 year old grandson and he likes the book. He can grow with the book as he does science projects. He used it for his last science project. I read it to make sure he didn't just copy from the book- he did not. He got an A+ on this report- the highest grade in the glass. It hepled him tremendously!

Excellent book of History Science!
I looked inside the book in Amazon site and I enjoyed the way it is organized. I also checked the index and I liked the intersting topics about world science. That's why I ordered it. If you like to know how things are created and developed, you will profict the book a lot. I bought the CDs of the same book too, they are also pretty good.

How did he do it?
It is amazing how well this massive topic is covered on 40 chapters of 6 pages each. Very accessible language, presented in a way that I think the non-scientist will find comprehensible and interesting. Although this is presumably intended as bait to pique interest in a young non-specialist, I enjoyed every bit of it (I have tertiary arts and sciences background) and I'm sure an intelligent and inquisitive 12-year old would love it too.

A Little History of Science, a big beautiful further education for me
Ha! What a book, an eye opener. Lots of things I didn't know about numbers, medicine, astronomy, etc. This is a book I picked up in solidarity with our son to encourage him in a particular course and it turned out to be a very illuminating and educating material for me in particular. I find myself going back to this book again and again. I have even cited it in my new book released April 2019. Thank you.

Good conversational reference
It took me a while to plow through this book and I will forget at least half of it. But having it as an historical reference is valuable. Great for teachers and parents. Provides accurate "stories" about the entire history, and rhelms, of scientific discovery---with interesting back stories.

This is a so well written book, both entertaining as well as lucid, for either a laymen or a scholar who wants to recap on how different subjects of science came to be. Easy to read and remarkable informative despite the very short chapters that cover different sciences. Not an easy balancing task that was well achieved by the author.

Very easy to read and interesting for a non scientific layman but above all excellent and entertaining reading for young people. It's written as a parallel to Gombrich's 'A Little History of the World' which is also very well worth reading.

This writer doesn't seem very travelled or mentally alert, he waffles alot, it seems to be written for very young primary school children and he doesn't even seem to grasp half of the concepts he talks about because his language is so overly simplistic. A real displeasure to read as every sentence just seems a waste of time.
