Simple, Effective, High quality
I used this for my 3rd brake light along with an LED bulb to really increase visibility in winter conditions. Works great. this kit includes everything you will need to do the job as long as you have basic hand tools. 10/10 installation process.

Excellent product, made in the USA. Great instructions online.
I really like having the ability to easily adjust the flash speed. During the installation, I kept having problems maintaining connections. It's not the fault of the unit. I'm very tall and was trying to work under the sloping back window of a Crown Victoria Police Interceptor while kneeling sideways on the back seat. The quick-connect devices supplied with the flasher kept releasing wires because I couldn't reach the angle I needed to fasten them tightly enough. When I switched to standard twist-type electrical connectors, everything went smoothly.

Easy install and works perfectly
Works great, this unit adds just enough to make your 3rd brake light more attention-getting without being over the top. I like the simple 3 flashes compared to the crazy flash patterns on some other brake flashers. There are 3 speeds available. I used the slowest pattern because it has a longer duration of flashing, seems more likely that another driver will notice it this way IMO.Installation is easy, the only hard part was figuring out which wire was positive / ground inside the car. I'm only a beginner with basic electronics and was able to figure out the wiring. I could install another one of these in 1/4 the time now that I've done it once. Don't be intimidated by all the wires, it's actually very straightforward. To get the most out of the flasher, I'd highly recommend upgrading your brake light to LED if you currently have an incandescent light. The LED turns on / off instantly, which complements the flashing effect very well.

simple install, and legal in CA, but failed after ~1 week
not much effort to install. The hardest part was figuring which was the hot side of the circuit. A quick snip/strip/solder of that wire, and the job was done. Be sure to connect the yellow wire of the flasher module to the UPSTREAM side of the hot wire, and the red on the downstream side. Otherwise it won’t work. The trick is also to make your flash noticeable without being annoying in traffic. The default slow flash (4 flashes per second, then solid) seems to do the trick. Other rates are possible by configuring the remaining wires according to the instructions.Although federal law says it is illegal to have a flashing brake light, California allows it as long as it flashes no more than 4 times in 4 seconds.I saw this in action a few weeks ago on a car in front of me and was amazed at how effective it is, so I ordered one. For $15, this is great insurance against inattentive drivers behind you.March 2021, changed to 1 star: failure happened after about a week, where it would flash constantly while the brake was applied (would not go solid). Then, when the module was removed for testing with a 9V battery, it wouldn’t work at all. Sent it back. Haven’t decided if I should even bother with a second try.

Does exactly what it's supposed to
Works perfectly. The setting procedure for how quick the flashes are is a bit annoying, but luckily only needs to be done once.I wanted my install to be a bit cleaner and easily removable so I cut and trimmed the wires of the unit into a mini harness with two deutsch connectors. Then, I modified my car's third brake light wiring with two deutsch connectors that mate to the flash unit. That way, I can easily remove it if I ever need to. The unit is very small, and easy to tuck out of the way somewhere. The connectors I used are bigger than the unit itself.Unsolicited advice: please only use this on your third brake light. Tail light stop lamps should not flicker or blink when applying the brakes. It is very confusing to other drivers because they won't be able to distinguish between brake application or turn signal when you apply brakes and turn your indicator on at the same time.

What arrived was NOT what I ordered, instructions were lacking, but seems okay now.
Okay, where to start. I'd seen a few cars in my area with the flashing 3rd brake light. I thought it was interesting and having had two cars totaled from rear end collisions, decided a few bucks on this product might help in the future.1) The item that arrived doesn't quite look like what is show (with six wires), what arrived had four wires with the blue and green wires for setting the flash speed completely missing. What arrived had Red, Black, Yellow, White. That's it!2) The instructions are for a unit with six wires (not four) so confusing from the start. But if the default is slow, that's okay, but what the hell is the point of including the white wire??? EDIT: After some digging on the internet I found that the company makes four(4) versions of this unit and the white wire sets the speed of the flashes.3) The kit came with three alligator clip wires (Red, Black, White) for testing. When I was testing on my car, I could NOT get the device to work. Fiddling around on my workbench, I discovered the Red testing wire has bad and was useless. It took me an hour of troubleshooting to determine the issue.4) The wires for the unit are fairly short and don't make it easy to install the unit. Making the wires just a few inches longer would have really helped with the install.5) The instructions tell to use the black wire for "ground", but the kit doesn't include anything to attach to the vehicle body as a ground. {I ended up using the wiring for the brake light anyway and it did work}.6) The kit I received had just two wire connectors for attaching the unit. But the installation requires attaching the RED to power from the vehicle, YELLOW to the 3rd brake light and BLACK for the ground wire. So I used a tap clip I had lying around to complete the ground hookup.7) The unit does have a little red LED for testing using a simple 9volt DC battery. This was helpful in determining the Red test clip was bad. So that was helpful'ish.8) The single white wire on the delivered unit basically has NO FUNCTION whatsoever. At least what I can tell. So why include it??? I just knotted it up on installation. EDIT: After some digging on the internet I found that the company makes four(4) versions of this unit and the white wire sets the speed of the flashes.9) The 'flash' speed of 4 quick flashes lasts for a fraction of a second and the 3rd brake light has virtually no time to glow between the cycles of Power ON, Power OFF, etc., etc. So the result looks more like a 3rd brake light is stuttering to life before finally glowing steadily at full brightness. EDIT: After some digging on the internet I found that the company makes four(4) versions of this unit and the white wire sets the speed of the flashes. I was eventually able to cycle through the flash speeds to a setting that was quick, still got attention and gave notice of braking.Maybe this would work for others, but I'm disappointed in the delivered product, the instructions and the results. I'm considering returning the unit. But that'd also mean another hour re-wiring my 3rd brake light back to factory and I'm waiting a couple of weeks to see if the unit just dies on me out of curiosity. Maybe a different maker might be better, but I don't know. EDIT: This has been installed now for a couple of months and seems to work fine after finding the correct instructions online and tweaking the settings via the white cable.I'm more satisfied with the product now than I was originally. But the amount of tinkering and online digging for instructions was still woefully unnecessary. It DOES do as it says it will, but you'll have to experiment and hope you get the right unit shipped to you.
