Imposter Amongst Us
Functionally it works well blending in with its environment hiding amongst others rocks. It looks like a real rock so its easily hidden. It doesn't necessarily lock but it is safe to use. All in all its worth the money.

its cover is not snug but you put your key in plastic....or something to keep the cover snug...works great..does not look out of place

Almost 5 stars
The rock looks and feels pretty real. I just stated using it so hoping all will be well with the key inside. Probably would have given it a 5 star but wasn't 100 % with the side part that comes open and closed holding the key. If it was picked up the slide will just easily slide out and the key could fall out. I'm not 100 % sure about that so we will see. I will try to update about 4-5 months and see if it's holding up.

Affordable & Works As Described
I purchased Type-A black & this fake rock is perfect for hiding my spare key! It looks and feels like a real rock and it is very affordable. The rock didn’t blend in well with my other rocks, so I put some dirt on it to help it not stand out as much. It fit our standard size house key & came with a small bag to put the key in. If you didn’t know it was there, would you notice it?

Disappointed- I’ll be hiding my key sans hid-a-rock.
I see a lot of 5 star reviews, and also a lot of 1 star reviews. This rock didn’t look very real, maybe it was the one I was sent. It could have worked since I planned on burying it a tad in the dirt so it was more hidden, but the sliding part of the rock was a joke lol I started the return very quickly. Oh well. Fake rock. I didn’t have the highest expectations but I did expect the thing to stay together. Simple gravity had the slidy door fall out every time I turned it upside down. Even a slight angle and it fell out. Really poorly made in the slidy door department. Sigh. Hey you can’t win them all and amazon is great with these kinds of returns. I would not buy this again or any fake rock now lol I am nervous they all suck. I may try again. But I also will probably just put my key in a baggie and bury that instead. Yep that’s what I’ll do.

I fixed all the problems with this PANGAEA Key Hider Fake Rock.
I liked the way the PANGAEA Key Hider Fake Rock was designed, but it sure could use some quality control at the manufacturing facility. I bought it to hide my keys but I could not get the door to open at all. The door was wedged in so tightly nothing was going to budge it! The slide out bottom door just did not fit the unit. I had to use a pair of pliers and a screwdriver to get it open. The inner lip that holds the door was not cut correctly. I could barely open or close the door because it's made so poorly. The door did not slide smoothly. It was not cut correctly for the opening. The paint looked like just light grey primer. So I repainted it myself, and now it looks like an official real rock. I reinforced the groove lips with Gurilla epoxy to get them sturdy and strong. Then, I went to work on the slide grooves with my Dremall tool and recut the grooves so the door slides in and out smoothly. I also coated the grooves with candle wax to give the door an easy slide in and out. Now it is a great hide key rock Sure, it is not really waterproof. But if you coat your key with candle wax and use the supplied baggy, your key should survive most all types of weather. I would be hesitant to put one of those electronic key fob things in this PANGAEA Key Hider Fake Rock

Saved me and is worth the price.
June will make 4 years since I bought this. Just came back from a business trip and somehow lost my house key. I was worn out and tired, having flown all day. I tore apart everything in my luggage and no key. This was still where I buried it, barely visible. I pried it out of the ground and opened it. Inside was a shiny silver key inside the plastic bag that fit my door. Saved my butt.
